Jeep Canister Mod What do you think?

I wanted to get the opinion of the Pros on this site. I modified a jeep canister to go with the AD150 I bought. As you can see for the pics, I gutted the cup and added two new straws to the top. One to feed the AD and the other for the return from the AD. The return for the CP3 was left in place.
The questions are: The draw straws are too long. They hit the bottom of the cup. Does anyone know how long the straws need to be?
Does the cup rest on the bottom of the tank? If so, how much do the springs compress when the canister is on place?
Please let me know what you think I need to change. I only want to install this once!

Thanks

one way to figure out how much the springs compress is to actually install it. remove the straw and install the canister. run a measurin stick insite the fitting to the bottom the the canister. make your trim adjustments from there. It does compress to keep the basket seated onto the bottom of the tank. I don't know how far it does compress though. by the way, it looks like you did a great job so keep up the good work!

man using solid tubing for the pick-up is going to be hard...the flexible tubing makes it so you can compress the tubing onto the bottom of the canister. with the hard tubing you will have to measure perfectly!!

I installed my canister into the tank and then before I compressed it I measured how far it was from the canister mounting lip to the tank opening....
you did a great job on the canister mod...I used "Ether tubing" for my pick-up.

I am wondering why you did not save yourself $80 bucks and just mod your stock canister??

I bought the new canister so I could drive my truck until I get everything I need to install the AD all at one time. Less trips to the store for parts I forgot to get. Thanks for at advise on the pickup hose. Thats exactly in input I'm loking for.
