Intermitten hard starting

Does anyone have trouble with truck sometimes being hard to start. Mine does at times like today, 75 deg @ start up this morning heaters kicked on for quite a while for such a mild morning, and I had to try starting five tries to get it started. Next three starts started perfect and the fourth start took three tries. Has done this since new had it in to dealer once they said everthing A 'OK. Thanks for any input.

Ya it's happening alot to alot of people here. It's only on the G56 trucks and mostly when the truck is warm or already run. Everybody I know with an 05 or 06 with the G56 has this problem.....even mine! There is a TSB for it but only works for awile than seems to go back to doing it. The dealer will always tell you it's fine but it's not, something needs to be figured out and done about this. Do a search on here and you should find some more info.

My truck with the 48re will be a little hard to start from time to time and I seem to have narrowed it down to the oil change interval.

In the first 2500 miles of the oil change I never have a starting issue. Once I get past 2500 miles it will intermittently have a hard start? Go figure? I am not sure why or how, but as soon as my truck does it I change the oil and it is good for a while.

Same thing on my truck - happens about once every 1 - 2 weeks (driven daily) - sometimes when the truck is warm, but I've noticed it most of the time after it has been sitting for a while. No real pattern. Any idea what causes this? Can someone post the link to the TSB?
I let the grid heaters heat up, when needed, but it still happens.
I find that if it doesn't start after the 'long crank' and I leave the key in the run position for a few 5 secs or so, then off and restart it will fire up as it should. Sounds almost as if it's not getting fuel at the get go....

I was filling up my truck the other day (over $100 now) and there was a mid 90's second gen beside me. I go to fire my truck up, probably 6-7 seconds later it was chugging away, the older fellow in the second gen cranks his rig over and bam it fires in a second or two. Sometimes I wish I had a brand new 12 valve instead of the hpcr, but the adjustable fueling with a push of a button is hard to beat. Just thought I would add that.

I have NEVER had a hard starting problem. I read this post last night and today, 3 hard starts, what gives?

Would running my quad on high have anything to do with it?

I have been playin with my settings to see what kind of fuel milage I get so for this tank I have left the quad on high, but have only burned half a tank so it hasnt been that way for long.

Mine does it quite a bit. Heck, it did it at the dealership when I was picking it up... took a good 7 seconds to crank and get started! I wish I could remember the TSB number 'cause I need to take my truck in for another issue!

My truck has started fine ever since I started this thread a week ago. I really hate it when it does start hard in front of my pal's (ford and chevy guy's) I think it has to do with some kind of pressure loss or lack of building pressure soon enough, I don't know enough about how this fuel system works to troubleshoot but that would be where I would start. My truck has done this since new so it is not a mod problem.

keep in mind they are compression ignition engine and I don't think they have glow plugs so the compression as to build before it fires just a thought. my 06 does it to and its only a week old.

I may be wrong but I don't believe it is compression your engine should hold just try parking your truck on a steep hill without the parking brake (standard trans.) compression will hold it in place. With every rotation of the engine three cylinders should be on intake/compression stroke three on exhaust/power stroke.

Another thing I thought about, why is this only happening on the G56 trucks? From all that I have read this only happens to the 6 speeds and not the autos. What the heck is the difference???? I wonder if it's in the neutral saftey switch (clutch depressed before starting). I have no idea.........kinda weird!

Not just Manuals

Well it's not just the 6 speeds guys, I have an auto and mine started doing it since around 10,000 miles. Working with another guy with an 06' auto and he has the same problem, only his has only 3K on it. Sometimes mine takes 3-6 seconds before it will fire up?? I thought maybe it was the TST harness but apparently not.
