intake setup

after much research I'm planning to get something done with my intake.

I'm going with a turbo air guide
Cold Air box
Blue cool hose

I've done some searching on the forums and it looks like these items can be made by piecing together parts from home depot, etc.

however, I may be a chump and buy them, or I may home depot it.

I'm curious as to if you intake experts think this is good.

I don't want an aftermarket air filter system (scotty, kn, afe, etc) I just don't want to do that for various reasons. I'm also fond of this plan b'c I know I can do the install.

I guess i'm asking is this a good plan, or do I need something more, different, or is there a better way.

I don't plan to put a chip or anything on my truck any time.

I use the Cool Hose, stock air box and a Nano Fiber drop in filter from Amsoil.
No oiling, solvents or cleaners needed. 100K filter life. Less restriction and better filtering than stock paper filter.
I left the ring in the turbo and it sounds sweet. I have a TST 49R box and run it at 3-3. Works great, cleans even better and sounds sweet.
Total cost with shipping. Hose 140.00 Filter 47.00= 187.00 Bucks.
I think it`s the best way to go.

I have all 3 installed on my truck, very happy with the results. In all of my tours through Lowes, Home Depot, etc I have not seen these parts lying around. Well, maybe you could use a toilet flange and hose for the Cool Power stuff? As far as the TAG, not seen anything that would work as a substitute. The Blue Hose, I suppose you could get a couple 90*s and some straight hose from a farm supply?

Wore myself out looking at Home Depot, Lowe's, other hardware stores, on line industrial supply co.s and did not find anything I thought was satisfactory for the cool air box modification. Went to local dealer and bought 2 TAG III, Cool air box kit and cool blue hoses. 1 set for my 04.5 and 1 for the kids 06.
