we use an eddy current dyno that loads the roller via an electro magnet. For these tests, I set the load at 10% of its capacity and left it on for the whole run. This just helps simulate the weight of the vehicle a little and helps the boost come up more quickly

I was thinking about making my own intake but I didn't think the numbers would be like this. I would imagine a guy could just get a U-bend from Summit and make up a flange and go to town?!?!

I would imagine a nice stainless or aluminum mandrel 4" pipe would get the job done. I know there is a guy on TDR talking about making one. Definitely not as advanced as the ones tested, but I believe it would still make improvements

Im just wondering why only SW #7 was used rather than #9. Was it tested and your best overall gains were for whatever reason on #7??

Yes, 7 has yielded the best results on my truck and its the way I normally drive it. I actually lost a little on 9 the last time I ran it. I am pulling fuel pressure to 3psi on #7, so until I get the FASS installed, 7 is all I got.

Oh i see, thats still a lot of dough for only 10 or so peak hp gain, but the diff. in it makes in the lower range is really impressive. I wonder if this is more noticable in say a 6 spd. truck due to its always falling way down and having to build up again 4 or 5 times through the gears? Just a thought - Seems an auto keeps every thing tighter in its rpm band. Thoughts???

Moss Magnussen says they would have to prove it caused a problem, and I think they would have a hard time with that.

The 6-speed question is a good one. I *think* opening up the intake tract has helped the turbo spool faster, so that should be good for the 6-gunners.

Cool test, but I feel it's a bummer that the GDP horn was not included.

It happens to be my favorite, and the one that seems to be able to fit with a PacBrake compressor...

I didn't buy the cfm+ for performance but more for looks. I agree it helps some, but not alot, just eases the wear and tear process by allowing the potential of cooler air. I do enjoy having low egts though, even at wot I rarely see over 1100*.

I agree with the sentiment here that that is a nice article and test. I am about to buy one so the article is very timely for me. I really haven't considered the CFM until now. I was looking hard at the AFE Bladerunner and the GDP. I think they are ALL overpriced!
