Installed Smarty need some help

So I put my Smarty program in last night ver 4.14 running level 3, trq 2, timing 4, pressure 2, and have an issue. It runs great at the low end but when I get into it, it drops power on the upper end and sound like I have an exhaust brake installed. My quess is too much timing with the economy/fuel mileage setting number 4.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this or has any suggestion. As always thanks for the help on here!

By the way the Quad box has been completely removed for now. Until I can get the pressure only tune to run on my computer so I can reprogram it.

That sound you are getting is more than likely excessive timing. Try timing 2 and see what happens.

Yep, the good old 03/04 timing pop. Most don't get it with the Revo, but it was terrible on my truck with timing 4. Try timing 2 as stated.

Turning the timing back to #2 fixed it.

Figured it would. Timing 2 is pretty good. We just can't run the "mileage" timing on the REVO unless we don't ever plan on putting the hammer down.

I dont want to hyjack the thread but it sounds like I get some sort of injector rattle or something when I hit it hard on sw 3, 70hp, smarty jr. Is this the same thing? I turned my timing from 4 to 2 and that helped the idle rattle but it sounds like something different. I dont get the rattle on the 30 hp setting.

Above they were talking more about a "popping" sound that happens when into upper rpms at WOT. That is from excessive timing.

All things equal, you are experiencing normal timing rattle. For the sake of emissions, timing is very retarded on these trucks. That also gives them a very quiet sound as a side effect. Increasing the timing will give extra power with no additional fuel being used but increases the rattle noise-- can't have it both ways. As far as your smarty goes, the closer to stock you tune-- well, the closer to stock it will sound. Make sense?

Yeppers, it drives fine and the jr has been dyno proven on my truck. Just making sure...

FYI: 386HP before I added the intake and horn. Hoping for 400 now. TC doesnt like me though

I didn't know the 04 was capable of putting the hammer down...They reserved that for the 05 model (best year yet)!!!! HA!

Well there Mr Shakinredctd, I don't have anything for your 05 unless you want to run the car, but I think TIMINVA might have an 04 you could run.

Nice picture by the way. I have saved it for future emails. LOL
