Yes, I do have 12 volts to the red wire and ground to the black. I did notice when I took the gauge out of the box that the grey wire cover stopped 1/8" short of going in to the gauge housing, but I figured this was norm as it may very well be. I am gonna check that joint right now.

Just FYI, you can leave the main harness plugged up and installed and it will not affect anything while you take the gauge itself off.

A.) You are more than welcome to solder it back together if you have the stuff to do it.

B.) Call tech support and tell them what happened and they will send a new one to you.

Your call and whatever is easiest. I normally do not tell people to fix stuff but, if you are in a hurry and need it now, that is the fastest option in this case.

I have had that happen on a Recon gauge before and I am not sure why. I am guessing the girls do not get the cable properly mounted in the strain relief and during installation it got pulled on (not your fault) and broke the joint. They are pretty small joints as is everything on that board. That is a lot of stuff in a tiny package!

If you put it back together the insulation should be inside the case some as there is a built in strain relief on the plastic and you should never see wires, just the grey insulation. This will help keep the wires from being pulled on.

quad

does 10 psi sound normal for fp. reading is coming off the fuel filter housing. no matter how hard i got on it with the smarty on 5, it would never drop below like 8-9. sometimes in park it will drop to 3-4...any insight?

Sounds normal. Sounds like a good LP!!

At idle and at start up the fuel pressure will do some weird things sometimes. Also realize the digital is really fast and picks up a lot of things that are going on you might not see other wise.

One thing that is odd is how the FCA operates. Instead of trying to actually maintain a max pressure, it tries to maintain a min pressure and it can cause some fluctation at idle. When it does this if you pay close attention you can sort of hear and feel the motor surge slightly, almost like the A/C kicked on.

Question

Since qzilla is posting on here I have a question on these units.... how does it tap for the rail pressure?? one of those 3m single wire taps or did ya make a weather proof connector to piggyback into the factory sensor?? any link to install directions??

TIA

Interesting. "Armstrong Performance" has a low fuel pressure light on his truck. Smarty on 3 makes the light come on. Light is set to come on at 5psi I believe

Not yet....should be VERY soon

your fuel pressure boggles me. I ran a stock LP on my truck with a fuel pressure gauge just to see what it did. 8-10 at idle, 3-5 under acceleration with crazy larry.

My truck has a surge 2-3 seconds after I start it. Does it just once. I always chalked it up to building pressure in the system.

I don't even think we have the product on the website at all yet! I just sort of got it together in a hurry!

It is simple. 1 wire for power, 1 wire for ground. It has a set of factory style plugs that connect to the factory sensors for rail pressure.
