I just got done installing an EZ on my buddies 2003/250hp/auto/4x4/Crew cab/shortbed/CTD. No gauges right now but he's getting some. Anyways. My initial impression is a little disappointed. It's set on the 3rd jumper so it's only the 60 hp upgrade according to edges website. We took it for a ride and although you can tell there's more power there, it's not as big of an increase as the Comp in EZ mode was on mine. The smoke is also very disappointing. Hardly none at all. We didn't install a boost elbow because he bought it used and it didn't come with one but I don't see a reason to install it. It was a very easy install though. Easier than the comp on mine. He wants to change the jumpers on it but I won't let him until he gets the gauges in. All in all, it's a decent chip that's not gonna hurt anything. I wouldn't pay $600 or whatever they charge for it new though. It's not that great.

Sorry. I didn't know what they cost new. My buddy told me about $600 so I just went by that.

 

Naw, it's a simple pressure box, can be had pretty cheap.

 

Just so you know, I ran mine w/ no guages for over a year w/ no problems, even on level 5. If he's got an SO he probably doesn't have to worry. My temps stay really low even while towing. I put my EZ on an 03 HO once and his truck didn't seem to pull as hard as mine either. It's a decent box but it's no TST by any means.....
Check my gallery. There's a pic of my truck on the dyno on EZ level 4 and you would think the truck wasn't running because there is no smoke at all......

 

I put my EZ on about 25,000 miles ago and it's been running on the highest level Edge tells you about (70 hp / 220 torque I think) since that day with no gauges and no problems. Doesn't make too much smoke...but it made a big difference in the way the truck drove. When you can REALLY tell the difference is when you take it off. '

I paid $395 shipped. It'll work for now....but some day I may feel the need for more power.

 

I still can't believe that hoss is upgrading his truck. It seems so unatural. Hmm. Maybe I'll go ahead and upgrade his then. Don't think so though. I can't have him being faster than me.

 

i have my EZ on level 4, and when i mash the peddle, she wont go over 1,100*. I would say your friend is safe on level 4 without gauges....as long as he is not towing.

The EZ is a preasure box. You need DURATION to get smoke

 

Hoss needs a little more power since he has that heavy bedliner!!

 

Why do you say that?? I like MO POWAH just as much as the next guy. I've never NOT had a truck that I didn't "upgrade"....and I've never NOT had a truck.

 

Frankly I questioned that statement from Hoss but lo and behold Mommy Hoss sent me a picture of Hoss in his first truck Seems he always had a truck just as he claims
