Injector removal tips?

I am pulling my injectors out tomorrow night and I have the instructions from DDPs site and another set a member here sent me.

I know whats goin on and all, and it looks pretty straight forward, just wondering if you guys have any tips???

Also, I am installing studs on Sat, and when I do my 3rd retorque on the studs I am goin to be installing some sportsman springs, I wll probably start a thread on that when the time comes but any other useful tips would be great for any of the above intalls.

nozzles are easy just follow the instructions. use a screwdriver or something to pop them out and then you have to do cpr from the top of the injector with like a rag or something till it pops back in. thats about all you will need to know other then follow the directions. good luck.

directions from DDP are good to go. Make sure the feed tubes CLICK and are oriented correctly, and I assumed the red grease in the bag was to hold the crush washers on the tip during install. that worked well for me until the last cylinder where you have to cant the injector under the firewall, dont worry if you drop the washer down in there. the hole is only big enough for the nozzle.
good luck.

I would get a cheap wrench to grind down I want to say 7/8 for the body of injector to hold the injector to break the tips loose instead of buying the tool from somewhere. I had help doing mine the only issues I really had was finding info on all the torque specs. just take your time and be careful. what is the torque on the studs? I guess I better do that sometime.......

a large socket (15/16 or so, I forget) that will fit over the end of the injector is easier on your hands to push down on injector to make sure it is seated in the head

just my opinion

will, where'd you get the spring compressor from? i gotta do my springs too, but would rather NOT spend $140 for the tool to install the $550 springs.

I havent got the compressor yet, the springs are out for 3 weeks or so, so I figured once I get my injectors and studs done, I will go on the hunt for one.

I dont know how far away you are from doin springs but if you want I will split a compressor with ya?

I should hopefully only need it once.

You may want to wait on your springs and do the injectors at the same time. You have to pull the injectors to change the valve springs. Check with your local dealer and see if you can borrow the miller tool for the springs. They will most likely let you use it as they don't use it very often. My dealer told me they have never used their tool and I was the first one to use it. Get you a couple extra retainers in case you loose one. The studs will keep you occupied for a while. Watch your nuckles while torquing them down. The studs on the cr injectors can be sharp and you don't want to be bleeding all over your expensive torque wrench.

Leme know Chris

Thanks for the advice Billy Ram, I would love to wait and do it all at once but it seems that I have a leaking injector and they need to come out now, and the springs on on back order. I dont know if its in this thread or not, but I am gona do the springs when I do my last retorque on the studs.
