Injector rattle/timing knock???

I've been trying different versions of the Smarty software to see if there was a difference in the sound of the Cummins. Then I got to thinking about what is the difference between injector rattle & timing knock? Is there long term negative effects to these?

I was previously concerned about the rattle as well.....as long as you're not stacking with something else with timming changes you'll be fine.....FYI, the beta version of the new smarty software doesnt have any rattle at all....so as soon as it's released to the public, it'll be a mute point.....no one knows when the release date is, but they've been working on it for a while now....so hang tight.

Thanks. Just wondering what to expect from these upgrades. Went to the Oregon coast for the weekend and got 12.0 mpg going thru the mountains. Think I'll try a few other Smarty software versions and see if I can better that.

You're killin' me!! But, ya know, I was getting 12 mpg & taking the passes at 65-70 mpg. Maybe a little more right foot management would net better mpg. The power & response was nice to have.
