To the OP, that low rpm rattle you have is common with larger injectors. It is not a quality issue.

Folks have been trying to tune that rattle out forever now.

Yeah, I've heard that. It's a tough thing...I'll assume they're ok. EGTs are normal and fuel milage is unchanged. The rattle seems to be more prevalent when the engine is up to temp.

Have you run your idle balance rates with EFI Live? If so do you remember the numbers? Its a good tool to help keep an eye on things.

No that's not the case at all!

Ok let's start with have you logged and read anything with EFI?

If yes this will be easy, if no I can walk you through it.

Bottom line is you log the truck after it is warm at idle, just let it run a min or so while recording data. Then you open that log file and select the injector balance rates 1-6 in a Dashpage. Then you watch them, most will say anything above +- 3.0 and its time for some concern and anything +- 4.0 is a must to at the least pull and have tested/replace ASAP.

The balance rate is a great tool to give you an idea what's going on. The ECM at idle has the ability to add or remove fuel from each injector in order to achieve a good quality idle. When the Numbers get between 3-4 the injectors are not balancing well, which gives you a good indication something is up and its time to take a better look.

All of the above is in Layman's terms, so you gurus don't beat me up. If you don't have any clue how to log and read files look up my EFI thread. It has links to very detailed DIY instructions courtesy of Rich at DogHouse Diesel. The guy spent a ton of time doing these for free and is a wealth of knowledge.

Any questions let me know and I'll try my best to help, Rye.

Although my truck is programmed with EFI live, I don't have the device. The gentleman that programmed my truck said that it's his understanding this feature is only available for duramax...

The equipment to test them is expensive a lot of builders dont have the stuff to build them right the first time. From time to time even the best send a bad one.It realy boils down to how many times you want to pull them and then put them back. Its a pain and not to mention the down time without your truck. Mine was down for almost two months sending them back and forth then you get, well you must have installed them wrong i could go on and on but when i went with the Schied injectors the truck ran better than it ever has with 0 problems.Shimming flow rates spray angle and all that goes with it you might want to ask someone else. All i know is what works the first time.Your time and money is worth as much as theirs who ever you buy from.Thats how so as best i can tell ya

Check out my thread in installed new injectors won't start I ended up changing the injectors one at a time to get it right. Took eight of them to get six good ones.

I agree with Larry. I bought a 7000 mile used pump because
Shane came on line and vouched for person selling pump, told
me guy was a honest person. When I received pump didn't look
like 7000 mile pump. Paid $1100 + good pump. Called Shane
and asked if he would check pump for me, would not return calls.
Put pump on went 100 feet soft plugs blew. I caught Shane on
another forum and called him out. He told me that's what I get
for buying a used pump.
