II Silver 62 Turbos
It is common for larger aftermarket turbos to maintain higher cruising EGT's than the stocker, the bigger turbos really shine when your pushing loads of fuel through up to WOT. In this case your max EGT's will drastically reduce which makes towing up hills a breeze with lots of fuel.
Right now I am knocking on the door of 600 Hp with a Silver 62 and I have not seen any problems whatsoever. The drive prssures are in check the EGT's are low and the boost is high.
I have heard of guys running up to and over 650 with the 62 without extreme drive pressures. This is due to the hogged out exhaust housing and the big turbine wheel. The high flow exhaust housing is the beauty of the Silver series. IMO the Silver 62 is the best compromise between a towing turbo and high performance.
Mine boosts to 52 PSI and spools faster than the stocker did when the truck was lightly modified, and actually after driving it awhile I don't ever remember the stocker spooling as fast as this turbo does.
650-700 is pushing the 62, it'll do it, but it is not built to support that kind of power. 600 is just about right for the 62, you could probably bump to the 64 to get you to 650 and 700.
IMO the Silvers are the best widely available turbos made right now.

Thanks Justice. That is what I was expecting to hear.
Does anybody NOT like their Silver 62 or wish they had NOT got it for some reason? I don't recall ever reading anything NEGATIVE about them. Please speak up....I want to hear the good and the bad (if there is any).

Thx Trik. I don't care if the EGTs go up a little running around town. I was just commenting how cool they seem to be already with my stocker, especially since I added the Smarty over a year ago.
I did put my truck on the Dragstrip in October...just for fun. Weighing in at 8300lbs........my best time was 15.28, rolling on 35'' MTs....and before the MP-8. Just Smarty on 9 and stock trans, stock turbo, no boosted launch. EGTs were pretty toasty at the end of the strip....1500+ and climbing. I found myself backing off at the end. Im sure the Silver 62 would help a little bit there.
..
It would help a ton. Before I had the stack that gave me my hp in my sig (which should be well over 600hp now due to a new tune and water/meth injection), I ran my truck with built trans/converter and Silver64 at the track. My best time was a 14.19 at 95mph. My egt touched 1200 and never moved from there which told me I needed more FUEL... haha... And my boost was 45 max. Now I see 52psi boost and 1500egt's if I get crazy. I think you'll love the 62. Because I don't tow, I really should've just gotten the SilverBullet (66) and been done with it.... well kinda...
i just put in the SB66 and i have to tell you the lag is not that bad at all, after going to the track and my friend breaking his crownvic, i had to tow it home with my truck, and it did the job just fine. Its a total of about 6000 pounds with the trailer, not a whole lot of weight compared to some people, but it tow perfect!
Will, Was your SB the 66 or 62 (or something else)?
In my Aurora 3000 thread you thought it would be a good choice for me. Do you still think that? If so, do you think it would be better for me than SB 62? Or do you have an even better recommendation? Thanks for your input.

The S300 and S400 are Borg Warner designs. The same basic design is used by many turbo maufacturers to include II, HTT, BD and many others because they flow a lot of air, they are very rebuildable, parts are widely available and they are durable. The SB turbos are a combination of parts developed and modified by Industrial built into an S300 type turbo. HTT does the same thing with theirs.
So are HTT's any good? I had a guy tell me that they are one of the better ones. I was interested in the Silver 62 or the 63/13/71?? And Im being told now to stay away from those and go with a HTT, which I know nothing about sizes and etc?
When you get below the top line turbos with either of these manufacturers you are splitting hairs. They both run the same size compressors the same housings and the same exhaust wheels. You could almost say they are the same turbo, but they both have their differences.
