Well I am glad I read this. I started thinking after you described your turbo that it sounded just like mine. I thought I had a sps6280,, after some research now... I have the silver. When you mentioned the polished houseing, made me think. So went and checked part numbers. Cool

Okay, someone needs to fill me in here. How did you purchase a turbo without knowing what it was? That's great news that it's a Silver 62 since II considers it their best daily driver/street turbo (even though the difference is virtually nothing over the SPS 6280)....but how did you get your hands on it without ever what turbo you bought?

Is it a better turbo than a HTT 62/12? If so, how? I'm in the market for a turbo too. Not sure I want to pay what they want for a SPS 62 though and I know I wouldn't pay $400 for a shiney housing.....

I was just making an example actually...but since you ask...

I prefer the SPS series....they are rebuildable so you can upgrade later if you decide to. (major plus)

once upon a time i was looking at a HTT 62/12. Things i kept hearing about it concerning EGT's and spool got me concerned.

Now that i have my SPS6280, I love it. Industrial Injection hooked me up right. I called them to discuss turbos and they were extremely nice to to talk to on the phone...and their service has been great...which is opposite of my brief encounter with HTT. I didn't mess with HTT long enough to really speak for their service though...but i had a brief encounter.

You don't have to get a silver 62, you could get a SPS6280 and have nearly the same thing. The difference between the 2 isn't clear to me. if anyone knows, tell me!

FWIW the HTT turbos are upgradeable as well and it is my understanding that the HTT 71 series is about the same turbo as the SPS.

I thought the diff in the SPS and silver 62 was the silver had an extra fin on the compressor wheel for better spool up but I could be mistaken.

Kevin, you know we were just playin. The important thing is you got the right turbo the first time, what ever it is. Now you just need to pm everyone that you told you had a 6280 and correct yourself so they dont go out and buy one cause you told em to......

I dont have anything to compare it to cause I dont know anybody around me with a Dodge that is anything other than stock BUT I am gettin an HTT turbo, one that they have not released yet and you better believe, good or bad, I will tell everyone what I think of it.

I am also pretty sure that both HTTs and IIs turbos are based off a S300 but I could be wrong on that one.
