Just as the title states.. I always read how everyone is dissapointed with their fass or airdog. So if u were building or have built your own system what would it consist of?? Preferbly starting at the tank!!

I would use the stock lift pump to fill the fuel canister and have the draw straw inside the canister. I still had pick up problems when the tank got super low in an emergency situation with my modified canister (per airdog's instructions). I would use a b1212 or an fs1000 before a raptor pump follow that with the stock filter housing and a cat filter (forget the number) before the cp3.

I would do a mitusa mechanical pump running through the GDP 2 mic filter kit.

I have a FASS 200, and I have had no problems with it at all. That said, I'd do as described above if I were doing it all over again.

I have no experience with the mechanical pumps, but I hear they are studs.

I'm out to lunch on whether I'd do a sump or do a canister with the return going inside the canister. It would be a simple pump (maybe a raptor, or something like the walbro, but with more volume) and a GDP 2 mic kit, a universal one mounted under the truck. I'd have to figure out what to use for a water separator, tho... I've seen a new pump that had a separator built into the filter... I'm sure that's not for a 2 mic yet.

Sorry for my rambling, I have not tried to build one yet, so I don't have specific parts

Here is what i was thinking.. Vulican canister mod. Maybe a bd flow max pump or raptor. Then use stock filter head for water seperator then gdp 2 micron big line kit mounted under intake horn.

I really like airdog and fass pump kits but it seems no one has much good to say as far as them doing what they are advertised to do.. Ive installed both and they both work good i guess, little dissapointed in airdogs move in using the quick dissconnect bs..

I have the old style barb push on fittings, and it I ever have to take the pump off, I'm gonna have to cut the lines and crap.

Mine has worked fine for 3 years now... I may be starting to have a problem now, but it may just be electrical connections...

DNR,

I have had that exact set up you just stated in the back of my mind for over a year now. I did the GDP 2 micron set up but I haven't pulled the trigger on the vulcan canister yet. My thought is walbro or Raptor for a pump. I'll just have to see what I can find for pricing when I'm ready. Personally it seems like a simple system and easy to replace the pump if it were to go bad. Not sure if it's cheaper after you add up all the misc parts compared to a Fass or Airdog kit. If anything start out with the GDP filter, its an easy install and the truck seems to run smoother. I should have done it when the truck was new, not at a 100K....

can i ask why no one would add the Fleetguard FS20000?
I think that would be a whole lot better then adding PS every fill up.

Thanks
Joe

Thumbs up

Never had any problems with my airdog, When I get around
to it, will change to a mechanical with 2 micron filter.

Raptor plumbed to stock filter then to a 2 micron filter before the CP3, would give better water separation and better filtering than my AD.

OK. So I read that the Mitusa is an A-1 pump. I also read a lot where people are asking the same question as me - where do you buy these things?- and no one seems to know. Why doesn't the DTR store stock/sell these?
Sounds like when I wanted alloy heads for my B block Challenger - wanted Bulldog (one of the best) but they bombed out so got Indy. Good product as well though

GDP and MK2

http://www.glacierdieselpower.com/pr...d=MK20307-CHMB

CP3 is the Bosch built belt driven high pressure injection pump that supplies high pressure fuel to the injectors in a common rail Dodge, (also on the Duramax.)

AD = Air Dog fuel pump.

Anything else?

I'd ask that in the bio fuel section. I don't have any experience with that...
