IAT Sensor and BHAF

Does the iat sensor affect the mpg in anyway, not being hooked up to anything. With the BHAF I just have it hanging near it, not in the intake piping, thinking its only function is to tell the ecm when the temp is cold enough for the 1000 rpm idle.

Will this hurt the MPG

Hasn't hurt my mileage either. My first tank after installing the BHAF got 21.6 mpg. Mine is mounted, but it's not mounted inside of the intake tubing.

It shouldn't hurt fuel economy to not have that sensor mounted in the airbox lid.

Now if it becomes damaged or unplugged, you will be in an altitude derate (to keep the turbo from overspeeding) and have very little power (and check engine light).

That is really a combo ambient air temperature and presssure sensor. Its used to calculate the altitude as well as the ambient air temperature.

Thats what I figured. Usually when I do 1 mod I do two more with it. when I put on the bhaf, I also put on 4500 pounds of permanent weight on the back of the truck, so I didnt get a good guess at what the mpg gain/loss the bhaf produced.

Thanks
