You sissy... Get 5".. Go big or go home!!! . I can imagine with the resonator it helps a bunch. I bet it will get raspier without it.. I would ditch it...

If you don't have emissions ditch the kitty Kat... For offroad use only!!! But I imagine it will drone then.. I know on my 05 it did.. My 06 with the 5" exhaust droned like mad without the muffler now it is awesome!!!

I'm planning on dropping the 55 gallon drum of a muffler & keeping the resonator. I have hopes of this creating a very nice sound. Can't wait to hear your sound clips!

IMO, I wouldnt bother with stack(s) unless you where doin at a 6". My 5" tailpipe looks little to me now and I would assume a stack would be the same. A single black mitre will look sick though. If I ever do a stack (if I can get rid of my toolbox which is doubtful) I would run a single 7" miter, possibly in black. But to me a dually can get away with a little larger stack.

I would run a 7" inch miter but who has a cheap source for 7" exhaust pipe???? do you think Napa would have it???
I would run 5" turbo back to a 7" black miter....

Does anyone know about the legality of a muffler delete, especially pertaining to the People's Republic of California?

yes and no, I want 5" under the truck and 6" or 7" stack....I want regular exhaust pipe so I can just cut it on a 45* and make my own stack....
I don't want to spend 200 bucks on a piece of 7" pipe is what I am saying and I can get a 5" piece of pipe for 50 bucks

does that make sense??

Lightbulb mega muffler delete - retain resonator

I think this may be my next mod 53 ******. Easy & cheap (just what I like!, lol)

I had proposed this mod to my local shop previously but they strongly advised against it stating excessive noise ("loud!") and drone. But, just to confirm, your experience is that the muffler delete while retaining the cat and resonator "sounds super deep and really pretty quiet still"? That sounds perfect to me... gain a little performance (bit better exhaust flow), little less weight... as simple as cutting out the stock exhaust and welding a straight pipe in it's place? any other tips or ideas on this mod to consider?

Thanks for the report.

7" all the way.. I would run 5" to the bed and then get an adapter that goes from 5 to 7 which you should be able to get at any truck center. If not let me know I will look when I pass through.. and then the stack. They had one when I was buying my tip except it was 48" long! Couldn't make that one work.. I still might be doing some experimenting!!! I will see what I can come up with!

I was thinking of pulling the cat off, gutting it, welding a 4" piece on the inside of it for no drone, then muffler delete pipe.

Anyone do it?? I'm thinking that one may be too loud for sure.

Btw, the faking of the cat still in place is for off-road ("warranty"') purposes only.

Or, gut the kitty and put in short Donaldson in place of the stock muffler????
