I have decided (99.9%) to add ANOTHER Toy!!!
It's a fad, a few guys coming over from another site for the sole purpose of complaining about how different this one is.
Main difference I can see is not in the rules, but rather in the fact that this one here doesn't go down for days at at time with no warning, over and over again.

Agree all you want, I already got warned once for providing a link to somebody about long arms on a 3rd gen, and warned for having a link to my personal website in my signature. I can understand not wanting links to business sites and stuff like that, I guess. But personal sites shouldn't be a problem.
The truth is you posted a link in your signature that went to your personal website containing your advertising banner for your business. You WERE attempting to advertise your business and this is the reason you still hold a grudge for having it removed.
You also tried to advertise your new forum via a link in your signature as well, even though we had already gone over this previously in PM.
DTR reserves the right to advertise in signatures for it's supporting vendors only.
Unfortunately you are not telling the whole story.....obviously you have to change it to fit your needs because the truth doesn't leave you looking like the innocent you wish to be.

I realize that it is in your best interest to look into this further than it really needs to go, but the link to my personal website had nothing to do with wanting to promote the resort or any of the dozens of other sites I have linked on my personal site. And I'm not even sure when you deleted that link, but I haven't had the link to the resort on my site since the end of June. The link to my site was nothing more than that. I can't fit all of my mods in the signature box, so adding a link is an easy way to show the mods, some pics, and some videos.
The link in my signature to the forum on my website was not an attempt to take people away from DTR, as you might think. It is an offroad site, mostly. There is a diesel forum that gets one new post every week, maybe. The site was created as a place to talk about using Dodges in an offroad sense. If you assume my site exists, or the link existed, in order to take away members from this site... well, that's like me saying that you have the offroad forum here to take away members from offroad sites. It just doesn't make sense. I'm sure you are a very nice guy, but you come off as being extremely paranoid, and I guess I just don't understand that.
As I said in the post I started a while back in the feedback section (which got locked so no further discussion could be made in the public eye), I look at the Internet as a tool. Forums are a tool. They are a way for people to help others. DTR's policy of "no links unless you pay us" is defeating the purpose of what forums even exist for. They are a means to communicate about a common topic, and share information. When a site makes a policy that does not allow links to other forums, sites, direct links to a single picture, or any of the other demonry that is against the rules here, I can't help but feel like we are defeating the purpose. That is the point I was trying to make.
As far as holding a grudge, it's the Internet. I don't care. Honestly. I just think you are looking into all of this a bit too much. I did get warned for providing a link to somebody who asked about long arms on a 3rd gen. That is fact. I also had my signature modified, without any explanation, until I asked about it. That is fact. When the link to my forum was deleted, I put a link to my personal site. Two different sites. That also got deleted. If we discussed all of this previously, "my bad." I honestly do not recall that. Claiming that I stretched the truth to make myself look innocent is a bit of a stretch, itself. This is all very simple.
While we are on the topic, though, you might explain to D Wiggs and the others exactly why links are forbidden. This topic probably gets a lot of views since it's a D Wiggs thread, and obviously some other members have questions about why links aren't allowed. You stated that advertising in signatures is reserved for supporting vendors only, but what about links in posts? Or links to a photo with no other HTML? Why exactly are personal sites (MySpace, Angelfire, Geocities, etc) forbidden?

Yes, would a link to a website that had NO ADVERTISING and ONLY information on my truck with pics and videos be allowed? Like I said, NO ADVERTISING, just a way of posting detailed specs that won't fit in my Signature?

It remains free because I sell advertising to help pay the bills around here. I naturally support those vendors who spend their hard earned dollars supporting us by NOT allowing you to advertise for free.

Simple; DTR reserves the right to advertise in it's forums and signatures for sponsoring vendors ONLY. If you are not a sponsoring vendor then it should be obvious that you can NOT place ads/links in your signature for ANY business type website.
I don't care what the site is about or represents, this rule is all inclusive and not subject to my personal approval or preference on the sites content. Can't be any more fair than that

If you wish to link to a site that is nothing more than pictures or videos, we don't have an issue with that. But if you list any info on that website for another forum or business, then it will violate the rules.
Too many people were linking to places like myspace and they were full of profanity. Linking to profanity on this site will get you banned permanently even if you did not post the profanity.
You are responsible for any and all content you bring to this site including any links you place in a post.
I'm pretty appreciative of being able to hang out here without being sent a monthly bill, as well as not having to hide anything should my daughter come and look over my shoulder. (Much unlike some of the other discussion forums around.) (Thanks, Jack and Lary.) This is why I choose to spend the majority of my "free internet time" here and not on the scores of other websites around the net, and I'm disappointed by some of the griping I hear (more often than ever now.)If I had big objections to a site as large as this, I think logically I should abandon it and find (or create) another one more suited to my tastes, before trying to change one that over 30,000 people are obviously very happy with.
