I have $5K to spend were should I start for hauling?
I was just told by Voc Rehabe that they are going to give me $5000 to spend on parts in order to get my truck ready for hot shots. Where do you all think I should spend the money first?
I'd get a beefed up tranny. Looks like you've already got the key power mods..ie..programmer, intake and exhaust. Or, since you're hotshotting I would consider a flatbed with a boom on it. Around here guys that can unload themselves make much more money because they don't have to sit around waiting on someone to unload.
Well in that case, I would definitely get yourself an AFE Stage 2 intake and a power module of some kind. Lots of guys here like the Smarty, I prefer the Edge/Attitude b/c of the safety features, built in gauges, power etc. plus I REALLY like the fact that its not a programmer so it won't leave a "footprint" on your computer. As for the boom, I understanding getting the BL signed, but most of the time you can still unload faster than the receiver can. Just my experience. Hope this helps.

yeah do the whistler, dont' go buy one, you'll save a ton of money. Then you should get gauges. And the smarty is suposed to be the only programmer on the market that is undetechable.
I recommend the commander, cause you can control just about any power adder you want. The smarty is a great choice i'm loving mine.
If you have an auto tranny then spend the money there first, i've heard of people doing only the tranny and report huge gains just from getting closer to 100% of the pwr to the ground.
good luck.

Here are a few parts that I was thinking off.
-AFE stage 2 filter
-BD Converter, lockup moduel, exhaust brake with switch, TRans go shift kit, bd trans pan
-Rear diff. Mag cover
-FASS
-Guages with pod & rail presure guage
-Smarty
-62 phat shaft turbo
-ATS exhaust manifold
-Fuel tank, not sure witch one yet

Here's what I would do.....
- Exhaust brake
- Tranny: torque converter and valve body only
- Intake
- Exhaust: free flowing muffler only
- Gauges
If you're paying for install that will probably chew up all $5k. If you have any money left do a GDP fuel pump. I'd lay off the power adders. But that's just what I'd do.....

Upgrade the trans first, get an intake and a downloader or a chip! I liked the smarty that I had and the bullydog I have now. If you aren't doing a racing tranny (full billet shafts), you could probably upgrade the flexplate, torque converter, toss a valve body in there, get an intake (especially if you make a whistler), and a programer for under $4k.
Well I can only assume you have quite enough power to pull any RV with ease so you may not need a programmer just yet. But the torque converter and valve body would be my very first mod. The air intake stuff would be a waste unless you just want to hear your turbo more. Mark at TST will tell you he has personally dyno'd every brand of aftermarket air filter setup out there and not seen any noticable power increase. He says a stock airbox with some cutouts on the "fender" side will get you all the power you need. So ask yourself, is 10 hp worth $300??? I don't have first hand knowledge of this, just what Mark told me when I wanted to buy one from him, and he told me to save my money.
After the TC and VB I would get a 2 micron filter setup. There are kits out there from Glacier or you can make your own like I did for half the cost.
Then it would be up to you for the downloader you choose. I have the Edge stuff and its fine for me now, I wanted the TST power but when I got one I could not get it to work on my truck without codes thrown every day. Even TST tried for 5 hours at their shop to get it to work with no luck. So I am stuck with the Edge power for now I guess. I have heard good stuff about the Smarty and will probably try one someday.
Then for exhaust... that would be up to you also. I have seen a stock 4" system on an 05 do 500+ hp, so will YOU need more than that for a RELIABLE work truck?
And like everyone else says, get some guages. EGT,Trans temp, and fuel pressure (at filter and/or rail pressure).
Other than that just drive. And keep your steering gearbox adjusted every 20,000 mile or so. Good luck!
