In dealing with a local turbo shop I decided to go ahead with an S-300 replacement for the factory unit but was told I will need to use an hx40 downpipe....no big deal to me. The shop does mostly stock applications (Cat, JD etc) so there is really no need for them to stock vehicle specific parts and pieces which is the reason for the new downpipe. Places like Source Automotive and Industrial Injection offer a 3rd gen exhaust housings on their parts so the exhaust bolts right up to the exhaust elbow with no mods. My question here is will the hx40 downpipe, which bolts directly to the 300 exhaust housing, still line up under the truck with the rest of my exhaust or will I have to cut and modify a $175 piece of pipe?

 

you will have to modify it unless you can find one bent for a 3rd gen. i have one on my truck and got it from turbonetics when i got the turbo.
