HTT 64/71/14 or II Silver 62?
Hey guys, whats your opinion? Ive talked to both companies they both sound like good turbos. I tow very little, very lite. The truck is a 6 speed. Will the 74 wheel in the Silver 62 be a dog or light good? II told me the silver 62 lights aroung 1500-1600 rpm. HTT said their 64/71/13 lights around 1800. II said the silver 62 is hands down the best turbo for my application because the commonrail can spool turbos so easy. Help me make my final decision thanks!

It is kind of hard to compare the two, 64 comp wheel vs 62, and 71 turbine vs 74.
You mentioned you tow very little, if you tow at all(heavy), I can tell you first hand the Silver62 is not a good choice. Just got home last friday from a week of vacationing in the mountains and I am very disapointed with the Silver. Turning all my boxes and programmers off, still high(1400) egt's. I tried all different combinations of fuel and just could not get it right. It is sad having all this power and not being able to utilize it.
I am checking for boost leaks now, have not found any yet, I find it hard to believe this Silver62 is so great on the street, yet crappy for towing, the SPS62 was a much better turbo for towing, and if I do not come up with a boost leak, the Silver is going back to II for testing or a 71 turbine.
Now that I am through with my rant, as I stated above, on the street, running around empty, the II Silver62 is wickedly fast at WOT. I cannot speak to the HTT because I have not experienced it, but I have considered it. If it would spool like an SPS62, and flow like or better than the Silver without having to be at WOT, that would be great. The 13cm housing should also help it spool quickly, but if HTT says 1800 rpm before it lights, that is not quick. My Silver will light @ 1400/1450 consitently, but only at WOT.
Sorry it got so long, just working out the direction I need to go, in my thoughts. Jess

on my 62/17/13ss, I had to turn my predator up to the 120hp setting while pulling a JD 3155 with front wheel assist or it would get really hot. I am glad I didnt go with the 64. But if I didnt tow at all I probably would have.

I hear ya about turning the predator up, I had better luck cranking on the TST and the Smarty, while towing my toybox as far as trying to keep my boost up and my egt's in check, but still it was not acceptable. I do not want to have to run WOT while pulling my toybox, just to keep the Silver62 spooled, thats just plain wrong.
