how to stop the "bounce"

Unloaded the back of my truck is way to bouncy. It really likes to "hop" at expansion joints on bridges. It actually hops sideways in a curve of any sort and is a little disturbing. I have added 300lbs of ballast which has helped a lot but there has to be a better solution. I can't find anything for replacement shocks that seem like they would help. Seems like the bilsteen shocks are only available for the 4x4. I have zero need for 3/4ton capacity. I guess my first change is going to be getting rid of the 6 ply 60lb pressure tires (alrady backed down to 45lbs). Will half ton springs fit the 3/4 ton truck? Fill the bed with concrete maybe? It's so bad my wife refuses to ride past the grocery store in the truck and I get seasick BEFORE I ever get to the boat ramp. It's a shame they don't offer a "wuss" syspension pagkage for those of us that really don't haul a load but just pull one.

I'm not sure if they fit, but maybe you can swap out yours for a set of the kore mini-leaf packs for the rear? I know that they really softened up the rear end of my truck, and I dont have that sideways hopping on curves with bumps anymore. Give greg at www.desertracingconcepts.net a call, he may be able to find you a shock that works too.

Bilsteen shocks are worth a try. My truck rides much smoother and controlled over similar conditions.

You could just take a couple of the shorter leaves out of your existing spring packs and see how it rides. I've done that on a couple other vehicles.

I think I'd try the simplist thing first... If 300 lbs helped, try 900 pounds or so.

First I hope you do't really have 6ply tires on there, or atleast if yo do they aren't the ones that came on the truck. You should have had E rated, I believe 10ply tires.
Now as far as infation pressure, put the rears at 40lbs and the fronts at 50 per the tire manual. Also add about 300-500lbs to the bed over the axles this will hep sit the rear down on the springs. If it's still too bouncey then add about 10 lbs to the rear tires.
If all this doesn't work then install the Kederman Air ride system and get rid of all the springs and shocks

Bilsteens will help from what I'm told. When I switched to an 8 ply tire (no one makes a 35 in a 10 ply) it helped some also.

Could put one of those fluffy pillows on the seat, seems to keep it nice and plush . I dunno what you could do, you could possibly get a new spring pack made that is enough for the truck but no load. These trucks do ride rough and are made to tow and haul. Mom had a Tahoe and it was great, a little too soft though but it's what there used for. Heavy duty truck, heavy duty suspension. Don't worry your butt will adjust, mine sure did, and I still have grip marks in the steering wheel when I touch the go pedal

Park the truck and buy a BIG/COMFY rear wheel drive auto like a older Caprice Classic or Merc.Marquis etc.I've ALWAYS had a good used comfy car to DRIVE and a big spring truck to haul and tow with.Right now have a Mercury Marquis liminted. My current truck, see sig.has 18k on speedo. It sits a LOT.My goose neck trailer has not been unhooked from it for about 2 months now. Also the V8 Merc.4.6 gets high 24 low 25 mpg tank after tank.My last Caprice(sold it with 253k)3054bbl auto got 22 to high 23 mpg.Never would think of using the dually as a daily driver.

Put a set of Rancho 9000 shox on the rear and set them on 1 or 2. Then remove a leaf out of spring pack. Then get C or D rated tires. Should ride very nice. Other option is get a half ton.

I thought of the 1/2 ton reply but thought better of it.I've always kept a big compy car to drive around.also it keeps miles down on my trucks.I keep my trucks usually 10 years or a little more.
