My goal is a 750hp fuel only DD if that makes ya feel any better.

I think I will get Nathan to build me a set when the time comes.

I just cant decide if I should do fuel first or air first.

Its eather gonna be sticks, cp3(s), studs, cam, and springs, OR twins, studs, and springs. I just dont know wich to do first.

Anyway, back on topic...

750hp is a nice number

I know Nathan seems to put together some sweet turbos..and he has a few trucks in the high HP thread with his twins pushing awesome numbers!!!! maybe "Idaho CTD" (Nathan) will chime in with some info???
can you make me a set of twins that can support 700-750hp and still tow some weight???

I think Nathan posted a few weeks ago that ~450hp was the limit for serious towing.

Not sure if you could detune 250-300hp and it still be driveable for towing?

I built a set of twins recently for a customer that spooled as fast as a 62/S400 combo and will support over 900hp. Actually the primary on another truck has done over 1000hp. As has been said though the water temps will be your biggest limiter in what sustainable hp can be used. For any extended period of time over about 425-450hp you will cook the coolant. For short runs 500hp or so can be used. There isn't much that can be pulled and safely maintained speed (or accelerate) with at 450hp.

So what would the ultimate wish list be for a towing rig? Im pretty happy with where Im at right now, although I'd love to have a set of twins under the hood. Ultimately I just hope to have a reliable, mean as hell towing rig. Suggestions?

With the right set up i don't see why you couldn't. Im running 686 hp now and can still tow. I turn things down i dont tow with everything turned on kill. Have found no real use for all the power while towing. Have towed a little over 23,000 combined no trouble. Water temp ran right around 200 maybe a little over not bad they have a 195 thermostat in them. Twins, cam, pump, injectors and a good adjustable box should get you there! I don't really have the truck turned up that often it is a hand full on the street. On the track i was spinning in four wheel drive on a hard launch with 35". I dont have a cam yet, but planning to put one in this summer.

Some set ups tow better than others when detuned. The set I just built would tow excellent because it spools fast. You have to be able to get on top of the chargers (for lack of better terminology) quick in order to tow well. The quicker they spool the higher the drive pressures typically though. So this one had dual wastegates. It also helps to keep boost down.

I am goona see what it will cost me to run up and dyno with the twins and the same mod's as the aurora for a comparison.. I am getting some sticks and there is another dyno event the 18 so that will also let me know what the sticks will do!!

so do they have a HP rating??? or is it not "rated" cause it is a custom twins set-up???

I would have to let nathan chime in on that.. THey should be the same power as the 5k if I remember him telling me that??? I thought he said they might be a little more but honestly I can't remember... I just know the rock!!! Tonight was the first time I have roasted my tires!!! and it was the only time I have really gotten on it though!! My max psi in boost has been 45 psi and with the aurora I could hit 50... So I might have to do some adjusting with the wastegate as Nathan has said he has hit 67 psi with these twins!!

so would a "normal" twins set-up have 1 wastegate for both turbos??
or 1 wastegated(WG) turbo and 1 non WG turbo??

when you say "It also helps to keep boost down" when do you want boost down?? more boost=more power???
or do you mean it just keeps/helps with overboosting???

sorry if these are dumb question's but I am still learning all this turbo mod stuff...thanks for learning me

My 5er is approx 13k, at the time my truck was around 600 hp, and I towed through the rocky mountains, no problem, no coolant issues etc... But Im not sure what it would be like with more to be honest
