The repair was over 2 years ago march so I'm on my own but I'll have it running in a day as soon as I get more parts.

Wow... like I said... amazing how thin that metal is.

Keep us posted as to your progress. You'll be much happier with the better stuff getting the power to the ground. It'll feel like a different truck. Trust me..

Make sure they check the pump on the transmission. If there is any play in it....replace it otherwise you and your new TC will be toast 10km down the road. When my flexplate went it cost me over $10k...it took out the TC, Bell housing, Starter, Pump, input shaft, full rebuild, 2 weeks rental, hotels, 4000km trip. Courier in parts. Good Luck!!! I keep telling people with all this electronic power for a couple of hundred bucks that the least you have to do to a tranny is the flexplate. A fully modded tranny is what is really needed....Oh yeah, your girlfriend drives a CBR600....Sweet. Kerry

I'm having a full billet NADP trans built for it and also a billet triple lock all suited for my new horsepower combination.I stared this thread because it's not "IF" your trans or flexplate blow up "IT'S" when it blows up! I've read about the flexplates for a while, and was welll aware of the need for a new one just didn't think it would cost this much, I will also be in the $10k range when I'm all done.

Well I was one of the very lucky ones. When I had my TC/Trans upgrade done we talked about needing flexplate, but were not sure if the ones available would work with the 3 Disc custom TC. So for 7 or 8 months of 550+rwhp I beat on it pretty hard at the track without issues. Then the BDTD came out with Torque Management Delete and the Smarty was released. After the first test run with the BDTD and TM delete I knew the flexplate was on borrowed time.

I had my truck at HotRodDiesels, same guy that built the tranmsision, doing some checking on Pressure Relief Valve and CP3. When I dropped it off they showed me a new Suncoast Laminated Flexplate that was going into a truck in about a week and I said I would go ahead and order one.

They took the truck out for some diagnostic runs using DRBIII. First few runs were with the BDTD and TST, then they loaded the Smarty. It never made it into OD Lockup with the Smarty.

Fortunately it was at the right place and with the right people for this to happen. They towed back to the shop, pulled the tc/trans, checked out the TC/trans, then installed the Suncoast flexplate that was already there. No damage to the TC/Trans fortunately, it just snapped into two pieces fairly clean. So it only cost me the Suncoast flexplate and R/R on the tc/transmission.

Not good pictures, but all I had was pic phone.

im just curious, what did it sound like before it blew?? I have a rattle in my 06 auto that I cant seem to locate. It sounds like its somewhere between the #6 injector and the tranny. If i didnt know I had an auto, I would swear my truck had a throw out bearing going bad. Thats what this rattle sounds like.

Open the inspection port on the bottom of the tranny...its called an inspection port for good reason...mine made a funny sound for a while...couldn't pin it down....some of it was the bent flexplate cutting a perfect circle into and through the bell housing / adapter housing. If there is any metal...fix it. ks

Amazing feeling isn't it..?

After my trans/converter were installed and I was coming home, I was backing into my driveway which is on an incline. I used to have to give her some fuel. This time, I almost drove into the neighbors house... no need for more fuel now....

It's not just a stock plate that's bad either. I just had my tranny built to a complete billet Suncoast setup. Today only 2 weeks after it's build I broke the laminated Suncoast flexplate on a second run down the track.

My turbo isn't even installed yet and you can see by my sig, the only real power I'm getting is from the TST and Smarty.

I should've went full billet ATS or another but was advised not to. I'm sure sorry I took that advise. So right now, my truck is stuck at the track while I hope to find someone on Sunday to fix it since I'm 500 miles away from my tools and house!

There's way more to the story and a lot has to do with expenditure. I feel your pain brotha !!!

I paid over 400 for mine I expected the suncoast would be strong even though it wasnt billet

Ok I took off the inspection plate on the bottom. Had a little bit of oil coming out around the plate, but it seemed dry on the inside. Didnt see anything out of the norm except for the oil around the cover. Now how the heck to you get to the TQ converter bolts so I can check and make sure they are tight??
