my truck is by no means fast compared to some of your trucks.. . but I do enjoy dusting the doors of mustang boys and camaro's.. they get so upset to, yes I am almost double the horse power of them but I am alot heavier too.

anywho, the next truck will be 4x4 and automatic. as the late great Ricky Bobby once said " I want to go FAST! "

imagine if you took the 80k price tag for an entry level corvette or viper and put it into a cummins ram..... dang. $40k brand new truck.... another $40k to blow on stuff would easily make you pass them up..... even a $20k used 2005 with $15k would beat the two...... and you wont get stuck in a pothole.... or on a speed hump

Here's a prime example of a 4WD Quad Cab Ram 3500 DRW putting Modified Corvette's and Viper's to shame....

The truck has been as quick as a very traction limited 6.42@ 114 mph in 1/8 mile...

Yeah, but buy a used vette for 20k, throw some boost at it. It would take a lot of money to catch it with a diesel.

I probably run a high 12, say 12.7-12.9, with the way I am set up as a DD. Not many production cars can take me in town, it would probably have to be vette a package up from basic. Espically if I have my TC locked, and we are up in speed a little.

That being said, there is always that sleeper that will ruin your day... I had a s-10 eat my lunch a while back, but he had a 400 small block with a good bit of work done to it. Looked like a production truck at first glance.

There are several 11 sec daily drivers around here. I know two that usually drive themselves to the track.
As stated above.... an 11 or 12 sec CTD will beat most production cars and most souped up small block racers for three reasons.....
-more HP
-4x4 launch
-Diesel "straight line" acceleration curve.

Before NOS got so popular, I could hold my own almost anywhere at 575 hp.
Today it takes more. With 650-750 hp, factory sized tires and reasonably light (say under 6500 lbs), a automatic CTD will win a lot more 1/4 mile races than it looses.... including vettes, mustangs and porsches!

Never happen! I daily drive my work CTD at about 425 hp... for smoke control, saftey and mileage. I know no one that tows much over that much hp.
BUT it is still very impressive that the driver can stay in his seat and push a button or throw a switch.... and be at 600+ hp!
It's the only advantage I have over the 3rd Gen's w/ Smartys.

These trucks can be made to be quick, but its hard to argue with a new stock liter bike that can run high nines stock WITH full warranty and costs 12 grand. I know, I know, comparing apples to oranges, but its a cheap way to go REALLY quick.

The CR answer is called Smarty PoD. Not quite as simple but do able.

But less HP....no? Thought I read that somewhere?
More than my extra 220 HP (180 chip/40 H2O/Meth)?

Yep. I can have the PoD on 20% or so, push 2 buttons, and be at full power.

OK... according to MADS website, POD Smarty will put out 170 HP. Very respectable.
Guess my only chance when playing hard on the street is all you guys that bgt Smartys before the POD came out!

I'm not trying to start a peeing contest here, so don't think/reply to it that way...

The 170 is on a STOCK truck... when you have a lot of mods... I think with the smarty on stock, my truck puts down 340-ish...

You don't have to have a POD.

My truck has been dyno'd numerous times on various dynos.....and it made 280 to the rear wheels bone stock. It made 466 and 467 (different dynos) with an old version of smarty....no other changes. (187 horsepower difference)

I have been running old versions of smarty forever. And now that I've added an MP8 it makes over 500 consistently. Stock turbo, injectors, cp3.

Mark, your truck should make more than 340 with a Smarty only. Are you sure that was right?
