How do I tell which BD I have?

Well I bought my 04 2 days ago from a dealer and there was no paperwork or manual for the Bullydog system. The monitor screen of the system is asking me which system I have...tripledog, other...etc. Is there a way to tell....model # somewhere or something? Thanks

Try Bullydog.com and compare pics. If it's a current system you'll see a picture. If not, check with their techs. They can help you update it and stuff over the computer. Post a pic of it and maybe some of us can tell you.

What exactly is on the truck. If you only have the BD Outlook monitor you may not have any program loaded.

Yes, it is the Outlook monitor...that's all I see. So what would be the point of the previous owner just installing a monitor and having no programing???? I've never dealt with this engine chipping and programming stuff before. Thanks.

A programmer, such as the Triple Dog, can work in combination with the Outlook or by itself. You can install a program with the TD and select the power settings and other parameters on-the-fly with the monitor, without having to get the programmer back out. It also monitors various parameters and allows you to make certain changes in the options on your truck, such as calibrating your speedo and odo for tire size, and other things. So, you can program with the TD, stow it, then manage the programming from the monitor.

Your previous owner probably did what mine did and uninstalled the TD and kept it, leaving only the monitor. You can use the TD programmer to uninstall the program and use it on another Dodge, Ford, or Chevy/GMC truck. I found a TD on ebay and purchased it for $100, updated it with the help of a BD tech, and am happy with the combo. I am currently having trouble with the monitor causing my truck to throw a MAP sensor code, though, so I'm probably going to have to send it in for service.

Currently, BD has abandoned the monitor/programmer combo and gone to the all-in-one units, such as the PMT and Triple Dog GT. I'm told they are excellent units. I have stuck with the Outlook/Triple Dog combo because you can still install the older, more potent, programs on them, whereas with the GT you only have the current programs available. I believe the older programs are available for the PMT, though. I tried to update my TD last night through BD's website, but found it wouldn't install on my truck. It appears the current TD program is for '06 and newer trucks only. I had to go back to the previous program (I had it saved on my computer from the last time I updated it).
