How to change sparkplugs? Where are they?
#16
per my dealer, "spark plugs are built into the ECM & can only be serviced by DC techs" they told me this when I had my muffler bearings replaced (my straight pipe wore them out) I used my BDDL & changed my plug settings from Autolite to Bosch, runs like hell now

In my '05 the spark plugs are located right next to the Flux Capacitor. Makes it a tight fit, but if I use the skyhook that I keep behind my seats I can usually get them out no problemo!

Replaced the muffler bearings because of your straight pipe??? That's BS!!! They just needed to be greased. I had the same problem with mine and the first two dealers tried replacing them but I was too smart for that and had PepBoys grease them for $75.00!! Pfff, showed those dealers!!! Oh, and spark plugs only need to be replaced every 8500 miles or when you rotate headlights.

Well, I took matters into my own hands last night. Fedup not being able to find the sparkplugs, I removed all my freeze plugs, threaded them, used a reducer, and put sparkplugs into that. I couldn't find the coils or anything like that, so I took the tach wire from the ECM to a MSD ignition coil to the plugs. Man, does it run now. My overhead says I'm getting 30mpg and rising.. and I'm just idling in the driveway. I left it running to let them breakin... wait... what's that smell... and noise? Fire... wha

Hmmm.....you mean you didn't know that ethylene glycol is flammable!!
Did you pull the top cover off the intake manifold? My Diesels for Dummies shop manual says the spark plugs and ignition coils are in there - the airflow provides cooling (at least until the boost comes up!)

Well I managed to catch it in time. I thought of something else as well, I'm going to tap my intake horn and put a 1-way checkvalve, with a 3/8" hose going to a 5 galon tank in the back. I figure 35psi is enough to air up some tires when the time comes. I wonder how fast I could fill it up, hmmm.
