November 2003 my truck recieved a "proto" A5k. They have been around! Heck...when I got it...I could not even talk to anyone about it...cause really no one knew what the heck I was saying...lol.

IF the housing/wheel are sized right for the desired peak flow...wastegate's are worthless. They are just that...waste!

They do "broaden" the map a little...but do nothing for peak flow.

I like how people point to a "couple" of 600 hp dyno's and say that the turbo (say a S-300 based one in this case) is proven to last. I know what settings, speeds and what boost my truck dynoed its best...and guess what, it saw that SEVERAL times a day for 3 years or so (97k). Say 1000 dynos!

That is a turbo that LASTS.

 

Yesterday, I called Forced Induction looking for a K31 like the Aurora 5000. It's kind of funny, because they sell parts to major turbo vendors we see here on the diesel sites. Anyway, he said he could do me a little better.. He ended up building me a GT42 with the same size wheels as the A5000. He used upgraded wheels with everything balanced, and it will have a 5'' exhaust instead of the 3.5'' to help reduce pressure. The intake side of the turbo is polished, the exhaust side is coated.. I asked about the T70, and he said this GT42 was a much better choice. The GT also has better surge protection.. It should be to me in a week or so.. We'll see how it works out..

not trying to be mean, but yes he would kill you. ive seen it happen many times. justin has the power to back up the talk. he runs alot of his power on low levels and the truck wins or places in the top 3 spots.
