How big was my mistake?
as you all know i had injector trouble which wrecked a piston. I wanted good protection from particles in the fuel. So I went with the FASS ystem. its being installed at a reputable diesel shop. (same one thats doing my engine).I wanted superior filtration/water seperation and I wanted to be worry free about the lift pump in tank dying on me as it was only putting out 4-5 psi and 1 psi at WOT.
but after reading many many posts about how badd the fass system is im having second thoughts.lots say its so noisy from cavitation that you can hear it a city block away. others say they wake up their neighbors just by turning the key forward and priming the system. others say theyve went through 2 fass motors in a year already.
Did I make a mistake?

others say that the drawstraw only goes a few inches down and so youll continously run out of fuel at 1/2 a tank.????wow i should of left the intank pump?

Many parts are only as good as the installs.
For draw straw fuel setups, it may be best to install with the tank off the ground. The bottom of the tank sags with a fuel load, if not compensated correctly, the draw straw could have a shallow depth.
I do not have a FASS but I have heard one, they do make noise but how "noisy" is relative. On a 12 valve, you would not notice it!

I don't have a FASS either but I would hesitate to bash them over a few posts.
You could probably find the same thing for any vendor on this site. Nothings perfect and nobody has 100% happy customers, as good as some of the vendors are on here they even get a bad report every now and again. And those could be false, could just be some guy feeling since he didn't get his free pump due to the fact that he ran it over with his truck he's going to get on here and bad mouth the manu....
I don't think you can go wrong with a FASS or AirDog...it's kinda like picking a dodge over a chevy, it really comes down to perference.
sorry for the long post....

been running a FASS 150/150 for almost a year now. hmmm, maybe more? either way, drawstraw was installed and never have run out of fuel at a 1/2 tank- only issue i have is when i run it all the way down. which i seldom do. as for noise, yea its a litle noise but i think it gives the truck character. i talked to dan and he said nothings wrong with it. never had any fuel pressure probs, or anything motor related. works flawless i think.

My FASS 150/95 system has been on for over three years and 75k miles. I never have problems with 1/4 tank which where I try to be at the track.
Mine was installed by performance shop that knows how and installed quite a few.
Mine initially was very quiet, almost did not know it was running. Then about 2 years ago it all of a sudden got loud and very noticable. I figured it was just a matter of time before it quit. Well that was 2 years ago and still doing fine. My fuel pressure is 18psi always at idle or normal daily driving and will pull down to maybe 15psi on full WOT. I do run a 3 micron fleetguard filter.

I have also been running FASS 2+ years with no problems running 16 psi and 15psi wot. I just changed my FF2010 filter after 15,000 and installed the new FF2003 which is rated at 2 mic and my fuel line pressure didn't change. I did replace my pickup tube at the time of installation. I did run my tank below a 1/4 quarter tank and saw a fuel pressure fluctuation. I am just tring to figure is it a true 2 micron?

I run neither....yet. I'll be going with an Airdog but had the truck come with a FASS I'd be perfectly content. They could be a little noisy, but who cares? Just consider it an audible reminder that you have fuel pressure. FASS has a good warranty (not as good as an Airdog though), a good reputation, and quality stuff.
As far as the draw straw is concerned, if you pull the bed and install the draw straw that way you shouldnt have any issue with running fuel low.
