In the winter my truck sits outside all day and then I only have a short(5 mile)drive back home and I am tired of waiting forever for the truck to warm up to make that trip home. If I follow correctly the high idle will also continue to circulate my transmission fluid when the truck is in park.

Nope, a stock tranny will not circulate fluid in park. Put it in neutral and set the brake.

Do you have a block heater cord?

No worries. What else do you want to know? There are things called winter fronts, they make warm ups a lot faster...
