Homemade winter front?????

Is this something that I would need w-a-y down here near Dallas Tx.? I know it gets colder and for a l-o-n-g-e-r time than here way up north. Also at what temps. would you want to use this?

I wouldn't bother with cardboard or a winter front until temps are below 0 and don't get above a 5 during the day.
In Dallas, its probably not worth the effort, but it would also depend on if you tow, etc.
