Homemade Intake Horn

Does anyone know where I might be able to find a 3 inch short 45 degree and short 90 degree elbow ? I just cant justify spending $300 on an intake horn if I can make my own for under $100. Maybe the reason that there so spendy is its hard to find the piping?

I fabbed up my own intake horn with two 3" mandrel bent 90* elbows from an exhaust shop and made my own flange from 3/8" plate. I think the two elbows were about 30 something bucks. I welded it all up and had it powder coated black. It was actually easier than I thought. It just took a few repeated trimmings of the elbows to get them to fit together properly before I welded them together. Sorry, no pics yet.

I'd say mine sits about 1" higher than the stocker - just perfect for a nice smooth bend into the intake manifold.

Don't make the radius tight where it goes into the head,it will kill the flow.

Made my own outta stainless and tig'd it out. Just thought I would mention if you guys are gonna mig under the dash to unhook or remove the battery on the driver side and get a heavy blanket to cover everything else from spatter. You almost have to in place tack the two 90*s together inplace to get the right angle. Iv e seen alot of mistakes on the other 4x4 boards with people doin stuff like this.

When it gets back from Baillie Diesel i'll take some pics. I did most of the work on the truck 6 months to a year or more and never took time so snap any pics.

For the record, a u or j bend won't work since the horn has to have a twist in it to meet the intercooler tube at the right angle and go straight down into the intake manifold. Plus, the bend that has to meet the intercooler tube isn't quite 90* but still needs a straight section on the end to properly mate up.
