I was wondering if anyone had ever thought of adapting a Holset HE400 turbo to a 3rd.Gen engine.I'm sure it could be done.What do you think?

 

controlling it is the hard part.. a stand alone controller would be needed, and if electronic, would need boost signal, shaft speed signal, maybe exhaust pressure too..? engine load/throttle position could be tapped of the stock ecm. then some smart programing to make it work..

of you could go low buck, use a wastegate actuator pot to control the sliding collar on the turbine [but you might need an extra external gate to control drive pressures?]

 

I was thinking about useing the pnumatic controlled one,& useing the factory waste gate controll pressure valve to controll it.The boost pressure would be there to controll the slip ring when you had boost to work with,& when you didn't there would be no need to actuate it anyway.It might work as easy as that.
