Holley Blue Pusher Pump Question

I've been reading all the posts on the Holley Blue pusher pump mod (I really think I need this now), and want to run my Holley in series with my stock lift pump.

Reason to run it in series is:

1) Pusher pump (holley) is close to the tank...Pushers should be below and w/in 24" of the fuel source. (I know they can go further)

2) Ease of plumbing and access

3) Only a couple of fittings to buy

Question I have is: If the Holley goes bad will fuel flow? I know if the stock LP goes then you outa' luck...Just don't know about the later.

I know a lot of you guy's are running your pusher pumps while bypassing your stock LP. Why is this? My guess would be redundancy...One goes bad, bypass and run the other?.

Thanks for the help guy's. I know the CP3 can pull but I just don't like the idea.

I ran a red in series on my 01. Its a creation that John_P and Banshee whipped up. Installation is pretty simple. However, if I had to do it over again, I would run a bypass around the Holley. I had two pumps seize up and the stock lp couldn't pull fuel through it. I think the Holley is an excellent solution, but I question the quality of the red ones. It seems hit or miss. I went through 2 in 6 weeks and know of others that have worked for over a year without problems. The blue ones seem to hold up better. Put in a bypass!
