Holley Blue pump install
Scotty,
How are you getting a larger diameter through hole on your fittings without drilling out the M12 X 1.5 threads on the filter housing, lift pimp, and VP44/CP3 to a larger sixe? The through diameter of the fittings I use is about .29". The minor diameter of the thread is .408" per a Machinery Handbook. That leaves around .060" of "meat" to support the fitting and carry the torque load when the fittings are installed. Are you drilling the walls thinner? Just curious as to how you're doing it.
Thanks,
John

John_P - I forgot to ask how is your truck progressing? When will you have it back?
I am wondering if the marine industry has diesel pumps that would fit the bill? I'm sure this has been looked at but thought I'd throw it out in this discussion. As for how mine and, I suppose Banshee has it mounted it would take a fair amount to get it soaked unless one was going off road and into the mud which I am sure happens a lot among the truck crowd. My 2X4 isn't up for this action. I am thinking of getting a better look at mine to see if there is any sealant around the wires as they enter the casting. If not I will add it cause I go through the car wash a few times/week. My truck runs-w-the pump off but I don't think the lift pump would enjoy having to drag diesel through the Holley under any kind of load. I initially bought a Carter and the inlet/outlet opening were really small so it is sitting in my office. Truth be told I can bypass this Holley in about five minutes if need be but I am confident it will give me good service.

Mopar_Mudder:
I agree with you on water sealing of these fuel pumps.
On the Holley, my son and I used clear silicone around
the seams and so far that seems to help. But where I
have mine mounted, I don't believe much water gets
up there anyway. It is on an "L" bracket on the transfer
case cross piece support, drivers side, INSIDE of the frame
rail. I think this Holley I have is actually sealed better than
the PE pumps were. But, at your advice I will keep an eye
on it! Thanks for the tip!
But,.....like you said we have be very careful what we say
or any of them could fail I guess!! LOL!
It sounds
as though that Carter you have has done well for you!
That would be definitely be my next choice should this
Holley "take a hike" if you know what I mean!!
Thanks for your input "Mopar!"

I am not able to give numbers on the pressure before I added my blue pump, but after installing my gauge I had 22-24 psi at idle and the farthest I can get it to go down is 11 psi. I have also ran through some water, 1-2 foot in some spots and I was not doing it slow. I did this for almost a week since the road in front of my house was under water and I have not seen any sign of trouble. It is definitely peace of mind especially running fueling boxes and the trouble that others have had in the past. Plus it looks pretty cool having the SS braided line under the truck and visable throught he wheel compartment.
When I am at the shop next I will take pix of the Weber compared to our fittings. Having the Weber side by side with our custom fittings showed a much larger inner diameter on our fittings.
I doubt I will get there before I go to Germany. I am back on the 24th and have a solid week non stop at the shop then.
I will have a fuel system ready before the end of June.
I am acutally thinking it might be better to have a fuel system that adapts to whatever the end user prefers for a pump.
