What is the highest boost a stock truck can handle
I have a smarty with some boost fooling built in it but egt's are still high(1400+).......

Whoa! Don't do that any more! Your killin the cummins! Try turnin the smarty WAY down!!!! 1400 is just cookin the poor thing! Aside from that look into a turbo. Keep doin that and your gonna need one anyways.

 

1400 is with the new software
the old software would bring the egt's up to 1600+........
I was wondering if i could put a boost fooler on my truck to push maybe 45-48lbs of pressure?

 

Ya, I'm sure you can. But why would you want to? Your turbo will be so far out of it's effective range that ya, you may see higher boost numbers, but you will not recieve any more cooling. You can run your hy up to approx. 40 psi. but that is really stretching the limits. And also your doing nothing but reducing the lifrspan of the motor (in the long haul) and the turbo (very few miles). But, hey if you got the coin, go ahead.

 

Thanks for the info 04smoker i will be looking into a new turbo........i thought i could save some money but i guess it is not the safest way to go.....btw what would be a good turbo to upgrade to?
