High egts

Has anyone battled high egts. I hear people saying that they can not get over 1300 with the smarty and I can get over 1700 if I stayed with it. I have always had high temps. I am going to try a new gauge pretty soon just to make sure mine is correct. I started with the quad chip and went to smarty. No matter what setting I have tried I always get hot on WOT even the HTT did not help. Any ideas, what about a re-flash.

Thanks

What EGTs do some of you see. I know high temps for short runs are somewhat normal.

Corey My last hook the gauge cruised up just below 1950deg at the end of the pull lol. I know people will say "your going to melt that motor down at those temps" But they need to realize the exaust "gas/air" is only there for a split second!

I can hit 1600 just passing on the highway and I am seeing around 40 boost. I am running 4.2 right now but even with tnt the temps were high.

ive had mine to 1800* a couple times these motors like to get hot but i think mine is do to lack of rail pressure 20K wide open running no pressure on the smarty and running mild rail pressure still getting hot i just put a 66/71/14 turbo on this past weekend and it is still getting up and im looking at around 45lbs of boost out of it. but the turbo side of the innercooler is so hot you cant touch it and the other side is kinda warm. so i think the intercooler could have something to do with it. it is a bad choke point its hard to send a 1000 cfm through something that will only flow 575 cfm

Wow...now thats hot. I think the highest I have had mine now is 1450. But I just added a TST so we will see. The only problem is now I am draining the rail if I add anything more than 2 on the torque setting. it went from 23K to 10K with a good stomp on the skinny pedal.

When I'm cruisin' around 70-75 mph my egt's are around 650-700 and say I pass a car, I'll floor it (if I can-traffic permitting) hit around 105-110mph my egt's hit 1400-1450 (preset in PMT to defuel @ 1450). If I just roll into the throttle to get at that speed, egt's will be climb up to 1400.

I'd try using a diff. gauge and see if you get lower egt readings, with that turbo you have, from what I understand (I still have stock turbo/stiks-with a wg fooler- hitting up to 45psi boost) you should be running lower egt's than me. My probe is according to edge's web site (in between flange-#3) same as you.

Now I'm still a rookie to diesels so I just gave you info. on what my truck runs(see my sign.), but I know sometimes gauges don't work-go bad or just are defective.

I have a BD turbo timer, pryo and gauge coming in a couple days. I will be able to tell if the quad is right. I have always been on the hot side with any programer. Do you think if the pro soots up it will read hotter. One time I wiped it off and it read cooler for a little bit.
