Hid lights and check engine light

I installed my bi-xenons by tapping into my drivers side light wires. The harness draws it's power from the battery with the wire taps being used to get the high or low beam signal to the relays. After using them a few times the check engine light will come on. Are there any other wires I can tap into to get the high/low signal to the xenons and keep the check engine light from coming on. The service rep cleared the codes for me yesterday and it keeps showing problems with the headlights with the starscan. Maybe the truck is still looking for the original headlights. Thanks for any help.

I'm sorry I can't help you with your question, but I'm wondering how you like your bi-xenons? Did you get the HID bulb that uses a magnetic charge to alter the arc when you switch to high beams? I'm considering buying an HID kit for my truck and don't know if I should spend the extra money on bi-xenons or just forget about using my highbeams. Any info you want to give about HID on your truck is appreciated.

dunno 06, but the 04 has a "bulb out" feature,

the ECM sends out +12v resistance check, if there is an open, it lights up the "lamp out" or bulb out, what ever it is.

i would assume that is what you are getting, just in a SES instead of a "bulb out"

you could resistance check the filametns on the OEM bulb, put a resistor in there, for high and low, and probably make the ECM not see an open.

there are some good threads on HID's, just search.

I like them a lot. Trying to get used to how things look with the 8000k's. These are bi-xenons and look like they have two seperate light generators. They came with 4 ballasts. On high beam it looks like they light up the road ahead for a half mile.
