HID with Decoder
HID with Decoder
I realize there are numerous HID threads and have read numerous. I purchased projector headlights and retrofitted them with H3 HID's from Xtralights.com. The kits for my '06 was purchased with their HID decoder for lampout and flicker. The site instructions calls for reversing the HID decoder if light will not come on. All of these I have performed.
Now I still have HID lights that come on with the engine off and once the engine is on no light on both headlight exists, including no Hi beam.
The projector lights that I installed were the Xetronic eagle eyes that split the headlights into separate hi and lo beam and the HID kit was the Xetronic water-resistant model they show in the aquarium tank. I installed HID's on low only and left hi with halogen.
Again no headlights when engine on but have lights with engine off?
Can anyone please help! Thanks.

I was having some trouble with the HIDs in my truck when I installed them. I don't have the bulb out since mine is an 03, but I still had the flickering issue. I sent an email to Retro-Solutions and worked with Todd there. He got me setup with the harness I needed for a good price even though I didn't buy my HIDs from them. Awesome service from them, link to their site: http://retro-solutions.com/

509Diesel and cbrahs, thank you for the suggestion. I called Todd and he understands what my HID issues are. Its unfortunate that I learned about retro-solutions after my purchases, I thought I had read plenty of details. It was not until I typed flickering HID that I learned about Todd. Todd was great to work with despite no guarantees of financial gain from our conversation.
What next? I called the vendor that I purchased the HID's from and was informed of the 14 day return policy. Although I was greater than that they were gracious enough to accept it with a 20% restocking fee.
Tomorrow I will call Todd to order the correct HID's and continue with the retrofit.
Here is my dilema: The aim of going to HID's was to decrease my power consumption and gain more illumination. The wire harness that retro-slutions uses to fool the can-cus system still uses a load equivalent to a halogen bulb, then uses power directly from the battery to power the HID's. Now the power consumption is doubled.
What if: I used the headlamp wiring and extend the wire to power the fogs, then used the line for the fogs to power the HID's?
Has anyone done this?

Yeah the voltage is really weird. I put a meter on it once and you can see it jump all over the place. I am still using a halogen fog lights, I bought a kit to replace them but I have been too lazy to put them in.
