I talked to Van about mine @ IRP, and he said it doesn't need to come out until the freeplay tightens up beyond a certain point. After that it would have to be reset by pulling out a few shims. I'll agree without a doubt that pulling is harder than dragging on a clutch, but mine has been in a year and is still well within spec after countless 3400 RPM 10psi launches
