Help with track night!!!!!!!

Ok, now that I have done the dyno thing, next is the trip to the track. I will be going with some friends that have some really fast cars (Toyota MR-2 - 600HP, Mustang GT-500 - 620HP, etc.) but maybe I can find someone I have a chance with. What are some suggestions to help me win some. I know that I need to lower my tire pressure in the rear tires and start out with a little boost. But what else? I've raced my motorcycles at the track but never my truck. On the street, if I get up around 10 psi to launch, the tires just spin forever and leave me sitting still in my own smoke. I know the track will be a little sticky. Any help will be great.

Well, with a 2wd, you're not going to be able to leave the line at full boost. I would find out if they are doing a test and tune, and try to go out and make a few passes to see what you can leave the line at with out roasting the tires off. Don't bother doing a burnout, if you have street tires, it's worthless.

Get a dial in time for you and them, and ask the track to dial the times in with the tree. You'll leave the line at different times, but if the dial in times are accurate, then it'll be a close race.

If I had a 2wd, I'd look into getting some wide rims and tires, and running slicks.

Good luck!

Also... I'd look into some ladder bars. They'll help plant the rear a little better, and reduce some of the traction issues.

A pair of M&H drag radials (g) 390/40R17 mounted on at least a 10'' wide rim and ladder bars like madhat already suggested.

I ran twice and just smoked 'em all the way down the 1/8th. 1st run (11.11) left on 2psi boost launch and lit the tires up. 2nd run (10.00) left on idle, eased into it, but as soon as the turbos spooled, tires roasted. Put it this way, after pedaling it, getting traction then braking loose again and again (4-5 times) I ran through the traps about 85mph on speedo., then the slip shows 72mph.

For me, it was like I was on grease rather than vht. The tires that I have, grip pretty good on the street.(??)

As soon as I get my problem resolved, if it doesn't cost me too much...I'll be buying a pair of the drag radials/rims, already started making the ladderbars.

A race between the 2 cars and truck when lined/treed up, big wieght diff. even though close on hp.

Time is time. If car one is dialed in at a 10 second pass, and car 2 is dialed in at a 17 second pass, car 2 leaves the line first, and the tree gives him the difference in the times in a head start.

Like this...

I know I said no burnout on street tires, but I was just playing here...

In terms lined/treed up is heads up, leaving the line same time. Even with going on bracket race route^^, being a 2wd will be a real challenge without dot's and l.bars...

I know its a blast... esp rowin the gears w/ the 6speed and a dual disc haha.. dont feel bad, i spun all 4 until the 1/8 and ran in the 13's.. that was my biggest adrenaline rush to date, just because it was in my hands shifting.. 2wd will take VERY little boost and thats with radials... it'll take a while before you get comfortable with it.. i spun more on the track than street though, for sure

IONS 17x10, 17x12 and just to clarify, 17 dia. (for 3rd gen. brake caliper clearnance) 10'' & 12'' wide. Use M&H tires drag radials 290/40R17 which is 29.5'' tall so far that's the tallest and 12.5'' wide. And DOT's..
