NC,
I wrote a little procedure on how to modify the H2 wheels with a Hole Hawg drill and 4 3/4" hole saw. Similar to what Bertram is showing. This method is quick and easy. But you have to be careful operating the drill. GO SLOW and let the drill chatter around in the hole as the 4 3/4" size is a little small. The drill centers itself in a recess in the front of the wheel. I cleaned up the holes after the cut with a 2" drum sander in a small electric drill. Be sure the wheel easily fits over the raised center on the axle flange as the nuts center it. If the hole is not large enough or is off center too far this could be a severe stress point. Later, when new tires go on these wheels, and balancing is done, the wheels will be centered on the balancer with the small taper on the front side of the center hole. Be sure to leave some of this taper for balancing purposes.
Have fun, you'll love the new wheels!

So you don't have to alter the height with a lift kit to use this combo and you can run the 315s? What width wheel are the hummers? Don't you have to have the hubs cut out to fit the Dodge?

315s
Ok,..what's wrong with this picture. I had a new set of 315s ordered and had them mounted on some 10" Americans and it was a no can do! Was my problem the width of the wheel or the offset? Does anyone know the offset on the Hummer wheels? I can get the same Americans in 8" and have been looking at 285R70X17 in the AT KOs.

The H2 wheels are 8 1/2 inch wide and the backspacing is about 5 1/2 inches. They fit PERFECT (after center modification) with the 315's, no rubbing, stock height. Just to be clear on the concept here, let me repeat this. Perfect fit.
If you don't like the H2 style you could always get other wheels that match the H2 sizing and you would get a, ready?, perfect fit. In other words they are a perfect fit. Did I mention they are a perfect fit? Maybe not so here goes, they are a perfect fit. And in case anyone is curious, they fit perfectly. Oh yeah, and they don't rub, they look cool, they are inexpensive, they four wheel excellent, they run smooth on the highway, they wear well, and they have one other great quality, they fit perfect.

I'm new here, and did a search but came up empty.
The deal is, I'm looking at maybe getting the Helo Maxx8 wheel (17x9) and some BFG 315's. Will this work, or are there better options. Would I be better off w/ 35x12.50's??
I don't want to mess anything up or have to change anything to put these on. I don't mind buying a 5th tire for a spare, but I don't really want to buy a 5th rim. Oh ya, it's an 04.5 2500 Laramie. Thanks for the help.
