Question Help, rear backup light install questions.

A good friend of mine at work gave me a spare driving lamp today that he had left over from his rear bumper install. All he did was routed power (fused) from the battery via a switch in the cab to the lamp in the rear. I'm look for something more professional, so I went out and bought an APC driving lamp wiring kit. At this point I am sort of stumped. Does any one know if I can use power from the 7 pin in the rear to power the lamp? So I dont have to run a line from up front? Also is there a relay supported lead on the 7 pin? Is it possible to have it come on when I put the truck in reverse? Basically, what I'm asking is how should I hook this up? Anyone with a 3rd gen truck have a safe and reliable method for install?

I added two reverse lights that are routed through a 3-way switch. This allows me to turn them on manually, turn them off, or have them come on with the factory reverse lights. I have a wiring schematic somewhere that I used, I'll post again when I get home and find it. I tapped into the reverse light lead on the trailer wiring harness, and used a relay. Has worked flawlessly for over 2 years now!

Please, if you find the schematic post it, I have been wanting to do this for awhile now.

It was kind of a PITA, but I think the end results are worth it. First of all, I applied masking tape to cover the face of the bumper in the area I planned to cut. This allowed me to use a Sharpie to mark it all out. I measured a bunch of things a bunch of times to get the proper location for the holes. Then I used a 1-1/4" hole saw in the four corners of the cutouts to achieve a nice radius. Then I just took a jigsaw and connected the dots! I removed what tape was left, cleaned it all up, and filed off the sharp edges. Then I took some chrome door edge guard molding and wrapped it around the cutouts for a clean, finished look. My lights mount on a bracket that extends straight back from the bottom of the frame, made from 1"x1/8" strap stock. It took about 2 hours total (wiring not included), and that was with plenty of downtime to really think things through before cutting into that new $30k+ bumper!!
