Help with P 0192
Help with P 0192
I just installed the Jacobs exhaust brake on my 05. When I hooked the batteries back up and started the truck, the check engine light came on. I shut it off and found out it was the P 0192 code. Has anybody else had this problem? I have a Quad Race box and I have never had any problems out of it. My truck only has 14,000 miles on it.
yeah, i have gotten the 0192 with the race. please ensure that all connections are tight, maybe unplugging and reseating them for insurance. you had to disturb alot of harnesses to get to the ecm connections on the side of the block. you can also pm quad here, he checks quite regularly and is great about getting back. good luck.
Thanks for the reply. I got back in the truck after I posted that and the light has went off and will not come back on. The code is no longer there. I don't know what the deal was. In the morning I'm going to check all of my connections and make sure they're ok.
SolarYellow,
What happened to your post on the Exhaust Brake on Ebay? I got mine for $700. What did you have to pay? I also found a mechanic at a local dealership that will install mine for $200 cash? Is that worth it in your installation experience or is it worth the $200 for me to just do it myself?

I don't know what happened to my post. It's gone from my records on here. I got my brake for 700. That's up to you on the install. If you're mechanically inclined I would say go for it. It ended up taking me about 6 hours to put it on. It's not the hardest thing I've ever done but not the easiest. The hardest part about the whole install was putting the d*** belt back on. You'll enjoy that. I put part of the belt on from the top then got underneath on a creaper with a long 1/2 braker bar to move the tensioner. Either way you go wouldn't be bad. $200 is a good deal or if you have time to do it, do it yourself. It's all just basic hand tools. Just be careful with the two wiring harness plugs. If you have any problems if you decide to do it, give me a call. 828-778-4598. That's my cell. Good luck.

pacbrake took about 2 hours to install. uses an air compressor supplied with the kit to activate the brake cylinder. the reason i didnt go with a banks or jake is the vacumm pump that is always running when ever the truck is running.
After I had already bought the Jacobs I am wishing I would have went with the Pac that uses the air compressor for the simple fact that the compressor could have supplied the air bags that I'm planning on installing in the near future. I am still happy with it's performance and I got such a good deal on it that I can buy the compressor foy my bags and still come out without wasting money.
