HELP! odo reading "no bus"

Please help if you can. I'm posting on this forum because of extensive mods. I just had some guys do some interior work and now when I crank the truck the odometer reads "no bus" and I got no gauge readings. but all the lights light up. The tach works for a few seconds the goes to zero when the message comes up. There were no problems going in, they did reroute some wires. I have a bully dog pmt with crazy larry. Please help I'm supposed to be driving across country.

check fuse #11 I think it is, this is the fuse the dealer pulls for long term storage, they may have tapped that wire for a hot wire, I think it's the brown/white stripe wire under your dash, sounds like a loose connection on that wire to me. If that fuse is pulled or the wire isn't making good connection you get the same error code on the odo

Does the truck start and run?. Just had a 1/2 ton with the gasser engine do the same thing. Ended up being the main ECU. But on this truck, the engine would not start. Basically, "NO-BUS" means that the instrument cluster is NOT receiving any information from the ECU.
On the truck I was referring to, the overhead display would broadcast "CCD" at the same time the instrument display would read "No Bus" and the engine would not start. Once you got the overhead and odometer to read, low and behold the truck would start.
If you have recently had interior work done, if they pulled the dash, you might start there. Also, if the headliner was pulled and you have the overhead display, it would be another great place to look.

I figured it out. Two wires on the climate control were switched. Now gauges work but ABS light is on. Going to keep troubleshooting. The truck runs. No fuses underhood are blown. I think its all wiring. If its like the lan line system on the chevys, then it starts at the ECU and runs from component to component looping back to ECU. So if the signal is broken at the end it should all look the same until you troubleshoot specific systems.

Hey, man. Long time!

I see this a lot with bad connections under the dash... Reseat that crap, and I'd look at any new connections put on there from your installer.

I'm in Yuma now, so if you're on this side...

Is it horsepower that is a factor? Or is it the closer you get to retirement and/or bedtime the more your sharpness dulls? Sorry I couldn't stop in but I got to be in NC by Sunday afternoon and it was a little late to be visiting. The CO may not have been too pleased with you.

UPDATE: The no bus was caused by improper wiring on the climate control harness. Then the ABS was reset by unplugging the TIPM. I'm a little late but I got on the road thanks to all that pitched in. DTR saved the day once again.

No worries, buddy. If you're in the area, let me know. If you don't have my number still, PM me, I'll give it to you.

Glad you got the truck fixed... I need to get some details on it to see where you are... I'm only at 868/1778...

the wiring that plugged into the back of the climate control. But, if you think about how the bus system works, it could really be anywhere along the path of components. If any of them are down, it will give this signal.
