HELP...new TST menu questions!

It was midnight when I got it hooked back up...so please forgive me if it is obvious.

I am not sure I fully understand the menu/selection/settings bit on the new TST...

Where are the instructions? I tried to ge it set on...no cool down, no boost limit, auto 6 degrees, 1450 egt limit, and 03 TT program. I think I did it...but I am not sure. They crammed so much stuff into the remote now. LOL

It seems like my truck is still timing happy...with 6 degrees over the Smarty.

Does anyone else know CONFIRMED answers to these questions...

1. What was the non adjustible TST timing maximum advance? Was it the same for all three programs and all 9 levels on each?

2. What is Smarty's maximum timing advance? Is it the same on all 3 (or 4) programs and all 9 levels on each?

My truck pulls so hard top to bottom now it scares me...no gaps from spool to 3500 rpms...but it seems to be a little more toasty at the same amount of boost...so I am wondering if my max stacked timing (Smarty/TST/MP-8) is still lower than my last set up with the TST doing it all the timing (TST/MP-8)?

Lets get the facts out...in favor of saving head gaskets!

I can't help much but I've been around a truck with the Smarty on 8 and there is for sure some timing advance going on. There is more timing noise on 8 than my truck with CL/tst. It would be nice to get an answer on the timing issue from Marco.

1. I thought the max on the non-adjustable tst was 18 degrees.

I agree, the new menu selections and access are a little confusing until you get used to them. Basically a "lower menu" that is normal display, cool down display, te setting menu, etc. Then there is the "upper menu" for all of the other settings. To access the "upper menu" you go to the cool down display and press the up arrow. This put you in a menu to set all of the functions of Cool Down, Max Boost, Max EGT, Timing and program selection. After you step through all that you will see the done display. Press the down arrow to go back to the "lower(normal) menu" level.

I believe the normal max timing for all programs was 12* Auto, at least it was for the twins programs.

Don't think Marco has published any numbers relating to the timing with the Smarty.

If the even numbers have no advance then why is it not the same sound as stock?

Maybe this smarty version is just wacko but it FOR SURE advances the timing becuase you can hear the timing rattle...

It sounds like tst needs to get a new remote...

cquestad,

Send me an email to RamCTD@houston.rr.com and I will email you the latest TST instruction manual. It does kind of explain all the options. Still confusing but does have pictures.LOL

BTW the last time I looked the Instruction Manual on the TST website was the old one that did not have the new options. I called over a month ago and told them and they emailed me the lastest one. Seems easier to just put the lastest on the website .

A big thanks to RamWheelsby4...

The menu confirmed my midnight guessing! Man does the Smarty do a great job of keeping the rail pressure up. I will not be needing a CP3 anytime soon!

4-1 on 03TT, 50% on the MP-8, and SW5 on the #2 software RIPS...and almost NO SMOKE! I have added 6 degrees Auto timing over the Smarty with the TST...and things sound fine. I may ask somebody with better ears for an opinion...but it seems fine to me.

Pulls wicked hard from spool (gets to spool way quicker than before too) to 3500 rpm's...no defueling...boost ramps real quick to 48 psi before the converter even locks...and then crawls up to 58-60 with no drops! I can keep my rail above 20k the whole time...closer to 25k most of the time!

I am going to quit raving and go drive...yehaw!

cquestad,

So the spool up on the A5K is quick with that setup? How much of a stepup is it from a SPS66?? Maybe PourinDiesel can chime in as well...

I know its not going to spool like stock but thats not my big concern

The 5k is not as quick to 10 psi (its "spool point") as a 66, but after 10 psi...WOAH.
