Help with front end!
OK guys n gals, I have some questions for ya about some issues Im having with my front end. The truck is in my sig, so heres a little history. I installed the Lorenz 2.25 suspension a couple of months ago and I have had clunking, grinding, and squeak type noises.
The squeaks happen when going from drive to reverse or vice versa, its pretty loud prominent squeak. I sometimes get it going over little bumps just driving around as well.
Now for the grinding/creaking, this happens when ever I give the brakes a moderate to hard squeeze. It will only happen right when I first do it, for example, I hit the brakes hard and Ill hear it, if I hit the brakes again without accelarating it wont happen. Also, after I do that, it will make the same sound when I accelarate right after braking.
Now for the big grinding clunking noise, this happens when Im going slow over a big speedbump. This compresses the suspension almost all the way and there is a very loud and nasty feeling grinding/clunk. This actually got worse after I just recently changed out the control arms to 1" longer.
So far what I have done to try and alleviate these issues are as follows:
I have torqued and retorqued to even a little higher than specs on all the bolts on the front end. I have replaced the track bar with a Thuren, new 1" longer DT Pro control arms. The only thing left I think it may be is the coils not being seated correctly, looks like the one on the drivers side in particular does not sit all the way in the bucket. The end of the coil sticks out a little bit and is worn a little bit so it looks as though the coil gets shoved in under compression and pops back up when I take off. So Im thinking of grinding the end of the coil flat and rotating the coils.
So all in all Im wondering how are the coils supposed to be clocked in the bucket? Am I on the right path to my issues or are there other things to look at? Sorry for the long post but I do appreciate any feedback!
