Help deciding on programmer

I put a leveling kit and 35" tires on my truck, I can see a pretty big difference in my mileage and a little bit in power. So I was wanting to get a programmer to help pick my mileage back up and get more power as well. Ive narrowed it down to either the Smarty Jr., Smarty S-06, or Bully Dog PMT. Need some help deciding. I want something safe so that I won't be replacing my stock clutch anytime soon and one that I won't need anymore mods inorder to handle the power, Thats why I originally wanted the smarty jr because from what I have heard it is pretty safe. But if the Smarty S06 would be just as safe and I could get another 70hp I would go that route. Then there is the BullyDog PMT, without the crazy larry or anything like that. I like it because then I wouldnt have to buy the gauges seperatley and I like that way it looks. So if anyone could stear me in the right direction for a programmer that I am going to get the most, and SAFEST hp out of on a pretty much stock truck I would really appreciate it.

Thanks Guys

Also, If I don't go with the Bullydog PMT, I planned on getting the isspro 3 gauge kit from diesel manor. With pyro, boost, and fuel pressure gauges. If this is a bad route to take let me know.

Either one but on a stock 48RE keep it under 75HP and you will be fine.

Corrupting the ECMs.

Those guages are nice, I have them and am happy. When I tried to order another set for my brother they asked is would take the Dyprocol instead, they have led lights with build in dimmers. I went that route and found them to be easier to install because they don't have the 2 boxes to try to tie up under your dash. Whatever is in them, must be built into the dyprocol gauge. which is better I have no clue. we hooked up the led lights to be on all the time so didn't have to tie into the light switch wires. As you can't have the leds on the dimmer switch anyway, have to set it and them and leave them, there is little switches that go behind the pillar.

I vote for Smarty Jr

For what its worth, I have the smarty jr and am very happy with it on the tow setting (70 hp). It is very driveable, has nice mid range punch, and not much smoke. IMHO, I would be careful about flogging the truck hard in general and particularly on the 100 hp setting. Some people have posted that ehy managed to slip their clutch on the 70 hp setting while towing heavy but you have no idea what shape the clutch was in before the smarty jr was added. No need to get the smarty sr unless you are possibley planning future upgrades. Also, for what it is worth, I have been back to the dealer after setting my truck back to stock with the smarty jr and had no problems with it being detected, though they really had no reason to try to detect it. If you still have a warranty, smarty jr is very easy to set back to stock and is supposed to be the least detectable.

I dont have the 48re , my truck is a 6spd G56 i think. Still don't go over 75hp setting?? And, so far, noone likes the PMT. I was originally planning on the smarty jr, but would rather have one of the other ones to get more hp if it would still be safe on my stock truck.

With the elimination of torque management combined with you spinning 35s, you are going to be torching the stock clutch if you exceed much over 100 HP, close to level 5 on the Smarty. Safe on the truck is really to keep it stock....

I have the smarty s 06. I love it. I run it on level 4 which is 90 hp with no timing added. It runs awesome and is very smooth. It turns my 35's just fine. and my mileage went up 2 miles per gallon. I would definitely go with the smarty s 06 just so when you do eventually decide to do more upgrades you already have the programmer to do just about whatever you want to. With mine on 90 I have no problems at all and I have had mine back into the dealership for small stuff and they never saw anything or asked any questions at all. I also baby my truck to so as far as the trans goes, mine is good for now...

Smarty for you since you're still under warranty. Well, actually Smarty is just better anyhow. Like they said, no footprint in the ECM for the dealer to deny your warranty work over. And I say the JR will do what you want but, you're once you get 100 HP you're going to want 200 HP so just spend the extra money now and try to limit your control you're driving habbits. I won't buy one yet b/c I know if I had one I'd need a new clutch in about a week.

I would get the gauges and a smarty like you said. you can run it on lower settings. I would get the gauges first then get a smarty when you can. you are on the right track. then if you do more later on there are about 40 programs to choose from for your truck right now made for whatever setup you have.

Smarty for sure. If you are 110% positive you won't go more than 100hp then get the smarty jr but I would get the s06 because 90% of people here probably said the same thing at one time but ended up addicted to power and wanted more. The S06 does everything the jr does and more and just remember your stock clutch will go out sooner or later with or without a programmer(could be a long time depending on how you drive) and when that time comes you can upgrade your clutch and utilize the higher settings of the s06. That's my .02
