Help!!
Hello There. So I'm a new guy to diesel. I lucked into a sweet 2004 Ram 2500 5.9L from my sister when she split from her goofball husband. I love this truck but I know very little about diesel engines.
It already has a Edge chip set and an Air Raid cold air intake.
Im just found my tailpipe broken off the muffler which if course I will have to replace.
My questions are, should I be looking for an ungraded exhaust system, which one would be ideal for my needs and would such an upgrade give me much by way of performance boost.
I use my truck mainly as a daily driver but quite often haul stuff for family and friends.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thx.
Rick

An exhaust is not going to improve performance that much, maybe a few hp and a mpg at the most if you delete everything behind the turbo and drive easy.
The big name brands are good products, silverline, MBRP, etc. You can go with a FBD (farm boys diesel) or RSD (rollin smoke diesel) budget exhaust system. Four inch is fine, five inch will be louder but not give any gains for your HP level. Some argue that a five inch will hurt performance at you level, but I have not had experience with this.
I had good results with my Silverline 4" turbo back.
HTH.

Thanks for the info. The funny thing up here in Canada is I can buy an aftermarket performance exhaust system turbo back cheaper than I can buy stock replacement stuff.. How messed up is that.

I myself had the RSD 5" kit. It was overall a good kit for the best price. Only beef was the tailpipe was bent real low but some tinkering and welding we ended up getting it holding straight.
hacked into the RSD exhaust and came up with this (notice how dry it was this year....)
