I agree, you should push the limits of the HX35 before the swap, otherwise you will tell everyone that the HE is a 300% better turbo than the HX. In terms of flow, the HE is more like 20-25% over the HX. Now an Hx35 at 18psi, heck, you're missing out on 1/3 of that turbo's potential.

 

A 62/12 would be a good upgrade

 

Follow-up question on differences... can someone tell me for sure if the boost elbow on the 3rd gen turbo is the same as the boost elbow on an HX35? A guy bought one for his 3rd gen and doesn't need it, but before I buy it from him to fit my HX35, I need to know.

It will fit, same thread pitch, same exact elbow sold for years 94'-04' except those pesky HY35's with the hard tubing that require a J-Hook.
