hardwiring an Ipod to an 05 stereo
there are some aftermarket wiring harness things that attach to the stock deck to let you feed an aux. signal into it. i can't find the link in my bookmarks, but someone here must have it... [will keep looking for it]
Alpine ipod control module
Ive got an Alpine Ai net head unit with a Ipod control module from Alpine It is pretty cool if you are into saving the quality of your music transfer. It plugs into the factory Ipod port allows the head unit to give you a read out of song selection and the head unit then controls going through the songs as though the Ipod Was a giant Cd changer. Complete digital transfere of music no sound quality loss... Check it out I cant recall part numbers off hand but if you need them let me know I can look it up later
You can easily add an iPod controller to your '05 factory unit unless you already have an external unit. For instance, I have the Sirius unit - so no go for me. That also applies to the BlueTooth module if I recall correctly. Call Crutchfield - they can get you the right part and they provide good install instructions.

Go to Crutchfield.com and look up the iCruze. It hooks into the factory radio and allows you to control the iPod through the radio. It is awesome and its sound quality is way better than the other options.

I have my sirius radio hardwired through and aux input that plugs into the cd changer port on the back of the radio. I got it from this place www.logjamelectronics.com/piechry02aux.html. It worked awesome for me as it eliminated the fm modulator which sucked.
Guys, are you sure it will work with the factory in dash cd changer? Crutchfield's website says the following:
What you need to know:
» Vehicle must NOT have the factory navigation system.
» Factory radio must have a button labeled "DISC UP" and another button
labeled "DISC DOWN".
» You will need to disconnect the factory CD changer, if you have one, and connect the new adapter in its place.
» The factory radio must not have a built in CD changer.
» Adapter plugs into the factory radio.
» If you have the factory satellite radio option, it will no longer work with this adaptor.
» The Crutchfield MasterSheet, if available, does not cover OEM integration.
I've been trying to find a way to hardwire my iPod in but there just doesn't seem to be an option out there if you have the in dash 6 disc changer. The Pie Adapter has the same disclosure.

I would imagine that since you have the built in CD Changer you will have to swap it out for a different factory radio. I have the RAZ model radio. I just got the iCruze in the mail the other day. I will update you guys once I get it installed and let you know how it goes.

Ya, I think I'm going to have to go that route as well. The problem is the RBQ model doesn't have CD changer controls since the changer is actually built in. The RAZ model does seem to be the way to go if you want to keep the factory look like I do. I wonder where you can find stock units for reasonable prices?

Does that little jobber just plug into the square port on the back of the radio? Can you control the siruis receiver through your radio? Does your radio have the six disk changer. Is the sound quality good, and finally is it an in only unit or could you hook an amp to it to run speakers?
thanks in advance for any help,
Nick
