Maybe it's just me, but I kinda like the stock wheel better. Those little crevices in the H2 wheels are going to be a PITA to keep clean. My wife's BMW has bunches of little holes and cutouts where brake dust and road junk love to hide. For me, the smoother and cleaner the surface, the better. I think I'll end up having my stockers chromed (chrome/xchg) or polished so they'll just look better.

I did my own as well. It's not difficult, just takes the right tools and a little time.

Concerning the machine work for H-2 wheels.

I am happy to admit that that having the centers turned out on a lathe is preferred. But it's certainly not necessary. I did mine with a 4 3/4" hole saw, on a hole hawg, by hand, with the tires on the wheels. It toook about 30 seconds to drill out the main hole and another minute to sand it with a 2" drum sander on a drill motor. I only sanded enough to clean up the cutting marks and smooth things out.
Before anyone panics let me say that the hole saw centers itself in a recess in the front of the wheels and is easy to do.
The next issue is about future balancing. The dynamic balancers have a 45 degree cone that centers the wheel. When opening up the center of the H-2 wheels their existing 45 degree angles are not completely removed. Therefore, the future balancing is not affected.
Again, I would have preferred to have this done on a lathe, but I did it myself, at home, and had no problems. Start to finish in about an hour.
I think these wheels are a real find for all Dodge owners. They are cheap and plentiful as takeoffs, they look great, they're strong, and you can run 315's with stock height and no rubbing. Cool.

What kind of hole saw did you use? the one I got bounced all over the place and didn't get very far into the wheel. How many teeth does the one you used have? thanks. Spikenbear

 

It will bounce around until you get a good groove going. Just make sure your holesaw is made for metal. You also need a drill with the side handle so you don't walk across the face of the rim. Remember, once you get the hole drilled you still have to open it up some more with a grinding burr...

 

I've got h2 rims with 315's mounted. I used an extra set of lugnuts to mount the stock center cap, no modifications required to the center cap, just mount and give a slight twist and they've been holding firm for over 4 months now, i will post pictures shortly.

 

Can someone explain how to post images in the replies. I'm computer dumb so pls take that into consideration. I'd like to post my pics of my stock caps on h2 rims.

You have to download them into your gallery first. Then you copy and paste the url after clicking the Image icon.

 

or, if you really don't want to fill up your gallery with random pics, host them on a site like photobucket, and then use the url they assign it to put the pic in the thread, saves space on this sites servers for more important stuff.

 

ok gang, i think i got this now go to http://photobucket.com/albums/e38/edonald849/. this is how i fitted my stock caps to my h2's without any mods. i used an extra set of lugnuts and used fingertip rubbers, put cap on with a twist, holds like a champ, got the info from a previous thread, no problems in over 4 months.

 

well ya figured it out, looks good, good thing you had all thos extra lugnuts around.
